Why don't you just focus on a few at a time. Reach a certain point in traffic then move to a new group. Much easier than trying to scale all of them at once.

At present, I am learning how to develop a site.
I am trying to add links to blogs and forums.
But I don't know how to use this method as you said "Limited bookmarking/web 2.0 sites".
Anybody can kindly explain it for me?

I'm just referring to using sites like Digg, Folkd, and other social bookmarking sites.

Aren't most blogs no-follow? And if you use your keyword as your name, doesn't that look really spammy?

Yeah, I have to agree. If you want to do 20 different sites at the same time you aren't going to have enough time to do it the whitehat way.

Worth noting is that Seth Godins book "The Dip" would be a good read for you. Perhaps the real issue here is that you should just do 1 site and do it better then anyone else in the world.

However is you want to do that many at once you are going to need automation, aka blackhat. Word to the wise is, blackhat can be profitable, but shouldn't be your only reliance. Like Blackhat 17 sites and whitehat 3 of them. In 2009 Google implemented over 400 algorithm changes (something like that anyway) thats over 1 per day. You can't keep up.

You should test test test, and then test some more. Do what works, modify or drop what doesn't. Always keep moving forward and remember, whatever is working now, won't work for long.

That's quite intimidating. If you do want to keep ahead of Google then you need to devise your own methods and DO NOT SHARE THEM haha You tell people then It is worthless. A secret is only valuable if it stays a secret!

The automated tools are just that . . . tools. You should use them as necessary, but not depend on them solely.

You can comment in high PR blogs and leave your URL there. Be sure to make your comments quality though. You can also buy some forum signatures linking to your site with a list of all these 20 sites. In the list, a description for every site you have will help a lot. When people gets interested, they will visit the site that gets their interest.

Yeah, the way I see it is that you are going to need to try and automate certain link building tasks. And this is why tools built for automating link building can help so much.

Yes, certain tools are geared towards pure blackhat use but that does not mean all tools are. And for some tools, it all depends on how you go about using them.

I'm the OP and as I mentioned, I'm trying to build links to many sites simultaneously (directory submissions, social bookmarking, interlinking between my sites, etc.).

I do much of this soon after the site is launched. How long do you think it takes before Google picks up most of the value from these links?

I'm wondering if I should build links for a site for a couple weeks, focus on a different site, and then come back after a while (1 month, 3 months, 6 months?) to see where it is in the rankings and go from there. If it's #1 for my keyword, move on to a different site. If it's lower, then start building links again to that site.

    Thoughts?
