I second that statement...variety is the spice of life. That's why I always recommend using multiple methods for SEO, which allows you to hedge risk resulting from algorithm changes. Otherwise, if you focus on the "hot" method everyone else is using, and Google comes along with a new filter/algo update that targets your method, you're in trouble. Never put your eggs all in one basket.

 

Nice and informative post. But one confusion... Isn't link exchange a spam or a black hat SEO? Just asking cause I'm confused.

No, link exchange is not blackhat. Perhaps if you do like 500 link exchanges per page it would stand out. However some link structures will naturally wind up as link exchanges just as webmasters link to relevant content. Its all about being natural.

I wouldn't consider any method of link building with out using a free online link exchange service like www.receivelnks.com

my tip: have two sites. one you dont make a lot of $$ on, add that to receive links to get points. Use those points to get one way back links to your $$$ site.
