About 7K. The stock market was taking up most of my time in 2009.

January 2010 has been my best month ever online.

If you aren't making much money, just keep working on your skills and learning. The first sale is tough. The first $100 is even tougher. Sustaining it month after month is the next step. Finally, growth and opportunities. It took me 2+ years but now I do this full time. Don't give up and you will make it.

I can't recommend a specific program, but these are the affiliate networks I use:

    www.moreniche.com (health products)
www.shareasale.com (huge affiliate network covering thousands of sites - this is my favorite network overall, and they throw awesome parties at every Affiliate Summit)
www.cj.com (mostly for travel programs, but they have a bunch of good merchants)

www.google.com/ads/affiliatenetwork/ (google's affiliate network, I haven't promoted anything in their network yet but I'm planning to)

I use all of the above in one form or another.

As for what to do...it really depends on what skills you have. I specialize in organic traffic techniques (i.e. SEO, social media, viral marketing, etc). Some affiliates do paid traffic (PPC), others specialize in stuff like black hat SEO or email marketing, CPA, etc.

But in a nutshell it comes down to building a good quality site and promoting it. Once it has steady traffic then you start putting in affiliate links.

About $25,000. Not bad for my first year, and not even the full year at that - just a little over half of it.

Still, I'm shooting for ten times that this year, and all of it passive within five years. Trouble is, making it in the first place isn't the same as making consistently on an ongoing basis... let alone making it reliably in passive income. Tough nuts to crack, and I don't pretend otherwise. :)

    Anyone else find this odd?

You claim to make 30-40k per month after only 6 months which is a number that a lot of people who have been doing this for years aren't even at yet. The learning curve for IM alone is 6 months or longer to really perfect something.

The second giveaway was the very cleverly disguised affiliate link in your signature. "USE THE SYSTEM I USED TO MAKE $40,000 LAST MONTH" with "zakj32926sbks26db7bd8.hop.clickbank.net" as the link.....

Sorry but I find it hard to believe you're making something even remotely close to 30-40k per month and you don't even know how to hide an affiliate link on an internet marketing forum.

like 500$ from google adsense from a bunch of websites I don't maintain anymore.

and around 9k from a subscription site that doesn't have any adsense.

2010 will be much better for me.

They didn't have coaching programs when I first started doing IM. I started many many years ago (I was one of the original Amazon Associates). Everything I've learned I did on my own or with help from friends.

Frankly I find the 'coaching', 'blueprint', and other courses/products you can buy are total crap. Don't ever buy any of them. They are just full of crap or information you can find for free elsewhere.

The best way to learn is on the go.

You want to learn PPC? Open an adwords account, go through the documentation that Google provides, and setup your first campaign. It'll cost you money, but you'll learn first-hand how to do it instead of spending that same amount of money on some lame product. (I find it really funny that so called PPC courses never mention things like Quality Score or other extremely vital items).

You want to learn SEO? Build a website (hell throw up a wordpress site), learn how it works, and build backlinks.

You want to learn Analytics and how to monitor traffic? Install Google Analytics on your site and spend time learning what all the numbers mean and how they relate to your site.

Social Media? Spend a few days watching Digg, Reddit, and other bookmarking sites and see how they work, what gets votes easily, etc. Spend a few more days on social networking sites like Facebook, MySpace, etc and figure it out.

It only takes like 10-15 mins of searching to learn how the basics of any IM field world. Then it's all hands-on experience to learn what works and what doesn't.

NEVER NEVER NEVER buy a course.

I made about 10% of my income from site sales, about 75% from cpa marketing and about 15% from Adsense. I lost a ton of money buying bum traffic. :(
