In this forum and in many other discussions, i came to know that CTR which is over 5% is harmful. But till now i am not able to get into my head that, is this CTR value per day/week/month or all time? Can anyone make me clear?
Probably should just get it out of your head because what you've heard is not right. Legitimate CTR over 5% is NOT HARMFUL. Illegitimate CTR over (and under) 5% IS harmful. If the clicks are legit and all is above board, don't worry about it. If you have only two pageviews and someone clicks an ad, there's 50% ctr right there. No biggy. Concentrate more on making sure that your site is in compliance with TOS and Policies than whether or not your CTR might be 5.01%
I wish people would quit saying this nonsense. There is NO magic number for CTR. Just make sure the clicks are legit and you should be fine.
I have an average CTR of 10% for almost 3 months and nothing has happen to my account and it never will. If your traffic sources are legitimate, you do not need to worry.
lol. Why does every think Google is out to get your account. Follow the rules and your good. Thats it.
Who made you the genius, genius? My friend averaged 10-11% CTR, banned. I averaged 4-6%, not banned. Getting check. Both used same traffic. I'd say anything over 8% period is unsafe. Hell, I keep mine under 6%
How was he getting the 10-11%? Was it legit clicks? Often a high CTR is associated with illegitimate means of getting clicks which is why people are paranoid of high CTRs, but if your clicks are legit, I repeat, don't worry. 8% is NOT a magic number, but if you're happy with it, go for it, but don't tell people that if they go over 8% they risk their account being banned. If it's over 8% and they are not legit clicks, yup, probably will be banned, but same with your 4-6%...if not legit, same risk.
guys again i wanna make myself sure, CTR in the basis of what days or weeks or months or all time? no one has answered this! and another thing if CTR increases beyond 10% via legitimate clicks, is there anyway to cool it down to normal?
Who knows (or really, who cares). Why? Because it's a made up "danger line" Whoever came up with the "5% is harmful" probably has no clue over what period of time, either. Ask the fellow saying 8%...over what period of time? Is that site wide? Is that siteS wide? If you are getting legit clicks, why would you want to "cool it down"? Think about this. If 10% of your visitors are clicking ads, and the advertiser is getting good conversions from those clicks, why the heck would you be banned?
Google is NOT your friend. Both me and my friends sites were illegitimite, however, BUT as you can see, the lower CTR was not banned. Obviously not as risky. If you want to stay (or more importantly, FEEL) safe, then keep it under 8%. PERIOD. Legit or not IDC. Google obviously is more strict on higher abnormal CTR's. over 5% is really abnormal, tbh. Over 8% is REALLY abnormal. Google will take a second eye to your clicks and conversion rates. YOU don't want that.
No, you sure don't want them looking if you're doing things that aren't legit Yes, higher CTR might cause them to take a look-see, but like I said way up above, spend more time concentrating on making sure your site is legit in the first place. I've INVITED the Adsense team to look at my site, and they've done so.
