I visited Turkey (Istanbul) and I didn't like it. A lot of mafia and hooks in the centre of city and it way very dirty. I didn't like it.

Been hanging out with a cool girl from Turkey, but never been there. Seems like Turkey is pretty unique, Muslim country (or their laid back version of Islam) and western at the same time.

Yes the Turkish people are great to get along with, I spent over 13 years working the Middle East, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, UAE and met Turkish people everyday, of course the Turkish hospitality is very welcoming too

I'd suggest you to read the history of Turkey, not the one they wrote, but the one that the whole world knows and talks about

I am planning a trip to Turkey next January. I plan to visit Istanbul but I am also planning to visit the "true" Turkey. Are there any Turkish forum members around who would like to suggest me some interesting place to visit?
    Thanks

Go to Ephesus and Pamukkale, and Didyma, Miletos & Priene (Three Ionian Wonders), Go to a Turkish Night and watch the belly dancing. Visit a mosque. Try Gozleme. Ride in a dolmus. Go on a gulet boat trip. Haggle in the Bazaars. Explore the non touristy villages. Drink Turkish coffee in a cafe overlooking The Bosphorus. Take time to talk to the Turkish people. Learn some of their awesome language.

The Turkish people are THE.BEST.EVER. You won't meet a nation of nicer people. God, I love that country. So much to do, so little time. I'm sure you'll have a great trip.
