I just got the domain proxyhit.com the other day for next to nothing. I haven't had time to do anything with it yet. I'm sure it's worthless in terms of stats, but it's easy to remember. I was thinking of asking some proxy server websites if they'd like to buy it. I seen some really bad domain names for sites that are offering proxy services. Any ideas for a price? thanks, PH
Good domain name. Can be used for proxy sites instead of selling is my option. Because now a days u can make good money with proxy sites when u get good traffc. When u sell it will move low $xx..
Spooker8, at first I had doubts about running a proxy site, but I just did a little research and it's seems super easy to make. It seems I just need to get a host that allows proxy scripts and find a free proxy script. I'm might actually try this. I'll start with a low priced proxy package and move from there. I ready proxy sites take up a lot of resources so hosting is more expensive. If I make good money at this I'll keep it running. In the meantime, I'll keep proxyhit.com on sedo or godaddy auction under offer/counter offer and see if anyone wants to buy it for a good price. One question though... It seems people are putting adsense on their proxy sites. Do you know if Google is cool with this? Or do I risk getting my account deleted?
Westservices4india, I could probably make more than $50 from Adsense if just made a proxy site like snooker8 mentioned. I'll still list an auction for the domain in case I can get a really good offer.
why don`t you make a web proxy list like proxy.org ? if you make web proxy using proxy domain some will be blocked cause of proxy words.
I just found a LONG thread about proxies here on dp.... http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=399487&highlight=proxy+site ...I'll try to learn everything that I can.
Yup, as others have said - definitely develop it prior to selling it. Sell as a domain - $50 tops, unless you get lucky. Sell as a developed proxy site with no (or very little) traffic - ~$150 Sell as a developed proxy site with some traffic and revenue - $350+ depending on the monthly rev
Wow looks like i'm selling in the wrong place! Proxy sites are low earning sites and i should know, my proxy site was getting over 50,000 uv per month but only turning $7 per month via adsense. You have to be very careful here as i closed mine due to the fact that i discovered people were using the site to visit adult sites and when they do that and you have your adsense showing in an iframe your breaching TOS. Personally i think the domain is worth low $xx and even with a proxy site on it, if you have no traffic/earnings you will still be looking at the bottom end of $xx. Get the traffic to around the same level as i had mine and then you can sell the site for low - mid $xxx dependent on the amount of traffic.
Wow 50,000 uv a month? If I had that kind of traffic I could advertise my computer based auction/classified site which currently has very low traffic. Since most people using a proxy server would know a thing or two about computers, it would be targeted traffic. I'll make a new post when I've had my proxy server running for a while.
Yeah, it was my first time within the niche also and to hit traffic that that i was simply picking out the better areas to market my site and keeping the site seen. Ended up exhausting my server usage and it was causing issues so had to shut her down unfortunately. Might look to fire her back up tho and get back into the niche, only issue is that the BW was killing a number of other sites that i had on the same server.
Nice domain but if you're planning on using it as a Proxy website its not so great because most schools block all domains with the keyword "Proxy' . which reduces a lot of teenager traffic from school.
Okay well for now I decided to just use it as a directory of proxy servers. I'm going to add a blog to it so Google respects it a bit more. If anyone has a proxy server, please add it to the list. http://proxyhit.com
Yep, you'll do more money to develop this nice DN then trying to sell it... If well develop: you might have a great memorable name & profitable in your hands... Good Luck with it!
