Figure out what people really want in your niche, then put your site in front of them by getting links from the sites they actually visit. If you have a Popsicle stand on the side of the road and all the cars drive by you still won't make any money. Money is not about Traffic. Marketing is about people and behaviors.
update your blog regularly and submit to some directories related. If there are someting in your blog, surely more readers will come.
Write posts every day with updated contents and don't forget to share your post on Digg or another news portal.

This works ONLY if you are a power digger, otherwise it will never get more than two or three votes (including the vote of your own) --- I would add from myself - use Twitter. I'm not agree with you. I'm not power digger, too.. But since I post my blog post on Digg, my alexa rank has significantly increased from 2 millions (owh) to 500's.. My blog is indonesian-english (both)..
Content and advertising are the best ways to increase blog traffic. There are a large variety of free advertising methods that can allow you to increase your traffic exponentiation. (Look in the link development thread for these). Just be sure to post regular quality content and you will find that visitors keep coming back
I like your blog. Not that I see many Diggs pointing to it... or maybe that's a different blog. I think it is quite difficult to judge why Alexa has improved. Anyway, I'm glad Digg's working for you. I am not impressed with Digg.
