Honda Civic Forum for Sale

    Hi DP Members,

    I am considering selling my Honda Civic Forum www. c i v i c l a n d .com
    (please don't link)

I bought the forum about 2 months ago to help bring traffic to my business (automotive retail site) and my other automotive forum. (Other sites aren't for sale)It has turned out pretty good and think I tapped out the resources but I think I would rather resale it and use the funds to help grow my other forum. Has about 3300 members, about 7,000 topics and 90,000 posts. Gets about 2-3 new members a day.

It makes about $5-$6 a day easily without any effort. THE PRIOR owner was averaging about $13 - $15 a day since the beginning of this year with google and INTELLITEXT. (Last year his revenue was about $9000. But traffic has declined over the past year and a half). When I bought it I removed the Intellitext as I myself don't like the links all over the place and I rearranged the ads, layout, skin etc often. So the ad placements weren't steady.

I use adsense and since it wasn't my objective, it really isn't optimized, just standard placement on the main page and on the top header. I am sure with a little optimization and perhaps using Intellitext and perhaps putting ads on the archive pages, on the bottom, in between posts and threads etc it should have no problem going back to $300 - $400 a month or so.

Again my I bought the site to direct traffic to my other forum which I started about 4 months ago as you can tell on the main page, it still links to my other forum.

Traffic is decent and currently now gets about 400 uniques a day with 100,000 + page views a month. Not a lot of posting goes on too much as visitors come for the Do It Yourself and Tech Threads, which there is really great content there. And those who do post, usually post tech help questions. There is an extremely knowledgeable Mod team that are real tech guys that build and swap motors and etc. that love to help and answer questions and will most likely remain to help run the site. Very easy site to run.

Alexa rank is 2,200,000 or so. Pretty crappy but Alexa seems to be inaccurate at times. 10,000 indexed pages in the G. Site is also listed in the D.

Domain name is 6 years old or so and I believe the domain name itself is very valuable.

I believe the site is worth quite a bit of money as it is a great marketable site for one of the most modified cars ever. The Honda Civic. I have also started to create forums for other Hondas to open the doors to other users and my intentions was to buy another ALIAS domain name referencing all Hondas.

With some SEO optimization to get Civic Forums in the top 5 (comes up on page 2 currently) some link building (currently about 200 backlinks) and directory submissions it can bring the PR3 (predicted 3.2) to a PR5. The site should get back to where it was once before.

Also I never did any real advertising at all. I link a banner from my other forum and a couple others ,my retail site and that's it.

Since I bought it, I removed some google ads, removed intellitext, changed the skins (2 professional which are included), purged about 20,000 useless posts (Old Classifieds, Old Sceduled Events, Old Moderator and Admin posts and threads with missing images etc). Deleted old PMs to clear up DB space.

Site runs suprisingly quite well on a shared hosting plan at GoDaddy.com which costs about $6 per month. Takes up about 350MB and DB file is about 75MB.

I am looking for a BIN of about a low $XX,XXX

Please no comments about the 12 months X monthly revenue bit. That can be true for ordinary common sites such as arcades or myspace sites or bad content sites etc.

This site is highly marketable and niche, it is extremely hard to get a Honda Civic Forum started with great content and steady traffic. The name is golden as well, very recognizable. The site just needs a little TLC and it will pay off. (BTW did you see the Civic Forum for sale at SP to give you an idea of the potential?)

Put your low $XX,XXX in the bank and try to make $400 a month (which the forum should be able to get back to easily, maybe more). That is what you would make in a year of interest.

Anyhow. I would accept payment by escrow.com or open to other suggestions. Perhaps paypal from reputable members.

with BIN (I will pay all fees)

I will also pay for a new Invision or vBulletin license of your choice regardless of BIN or Not).

Please no foul comments or opinions of what you think the site is worth or lowball BIN offers as I am not hurting for money nor do I need to sale it. Also pease don't spam my thread as well. I know DP members usually don't but there are always a few.

I will start this as an auction with a reserve and may consider appropriate BINs. Auction will run 7 days and I have the right to end the auction or not sale at any time as it's not really imperative for me to sell it.

    Thanks for your consideration.

Don't spam my thread. Keep worthless comments to yourself. The site is being sold for the domain name, past revenue, content and potential. If you don't like my price then keep your mouth shut and move on to the next thread.

I hate to throw this in here, but you guys need to stop complaining about BINs, starting bids, quality of sites, etc. If you don't intend to buy, then don't spam threads! I see hundreds of sites per week up for sale that I would never even consider paying the BIN on, but I don't waste mine and everyone else's time whining about it.

Another point to be made is that, especially with forums and related sites, potential is hidden all over the place.

And finally, the 10 x monthly revenue thing that you guys are crying about all the time: it's a loose guideline that we use as buyers and sellers to judge a site's worth, but it's not a law, not a rule, and not even a good point of reference with some sites.

doozyj, my apologies for doing this in your thread. Considering the comments above, I would recommend starting a new thread anyway.

Acutally the site was making anywhere from $7-$10 a day for the first week, when I purchased the site in July 2006, (prior to rearranging the ads etc. I also didn't use appropriate channels so proof is impossible at this point) and like I said if you notice the ad placements are just standard placment with no optimization.

No ads on the bottom, no ads in the threads, no ads in the posts nor in the archives. Kontera ads also seemed to work well for the prior owner, but myself aren't a fan of them.

Well it is on it's way to making $180 this month, screen shots show 1st to the 29th.

The site was making $13 a day from the prior owner with adsense and Kontera ads. I removed them and also removed some adsense on pages as my main objective wasn't to make revenue from this site but to direct targeted users to my retail site which I would make revenue.

Yes I know the activity isn't too high, but with 400 uniques a day most visitors read the archive pages and search for already answered questions. ie DIY and Tech Threads. Good solid content.

I am sure any knowledgeable webmasters will agree the site has potential and it's value is more on the content, name, topic, niche, age of site. Increased revenue can come easily later with optimization, SEO which I am NOT very savvy with, but there are those who are and can make this site extremely active if able to get good SE ranking.

Thanks for showing interest and your politeness.

Only people who complain about the price are the ones who are interested and they dont want to lose oppurtunity but they cannot afford it on the asking price either thats why we complain about the price atleast i only do when i am very interested. I am very interested but not at the asking price so if you consider gowing lower to reasonable price PM me before you do to anybody else :) and i will get back to you thanks for your time :)

I am open to offers and I will keep your request for PM in mind.

ALSO note, some traffic at the moment is being diverted to my other forum as you can tell on the main entry page. Which I do consider "my baby" as I started it from scratch 4 months ago so my main interest is in that forum.

I won't discuss that issue. Sorry.

Anyhow great potential, not everyday a site with good content, is being offered here for sale. Amid the directories, myspace sites, ardcades etc with no disrespect to those type of sites, this is truly a diamond in the rough. Yes it needs work but the site can only improve dramatically.

Or maybe, just maybe, he's wants $10,000 for a forum that got 12 posts in the last 24 hours and some of us just can't resist the temptation to point out what a shitty deal that'd be.

    Again another idiot spammer.

For making almost $200 a month as it is and you are such a pro, bring traffic to the site and you can double or triple revenue easily.
