How to hire a web design sales rep?

I have owned my web design company for almost 2 years now. I am always itching to get some work and when I do I can complete quality sites in a week or two. I know this is a great way to make money but the hardest thing for me is getting customers.

I don't have terrible people skills but it's also not exactly one of my strong points. I also have no idea how to walk into a business and sell them a website.

Because of this I really need to hire a sales rep who can go out and sell, sell, sell.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how find a good web design sales rep? I mean its not a hard job. All they would do is go out and find the person and after that I would handle everything else.

Also, what do you think would be good pay for a sales rep of this kind?

    Let the discussion begin! :)

I had the same problem a few years ago, I wanted to make my self a local name. I posted a want ad in the paper, craigslist and on job listing sites. What I end up paying for the service was I covered the milage he had to drive, otherwise its on his dime so he is covered and has a bigger interest in working for you. For the base pay I offered min wage, with commission on work brought in. So that gives him incentive to go out and sell harder, cause the more work he brings in the more he will make in the end.

Yes that i what I planned on doing. For any sales rep I think commission based is a must. Im curious as to what ended up happening with your business? Was he bringing in a lot of customers?

well you can hire several commission based sales rep. Payment after confirmation or delivery of the order. I think that's risk free.
