I've been here for quite a while and have studies threads related to adnsense and making money online. Some were focused on keywords, some were on niche and even some bragged about the MFAs. But what I want to ask is, how do design websites like smashingmagazine earn? Those design websites are way more beautiful than any other website with Google Ads on it. I'm sure they make way too much more money than Adsense. Any idea?
how? pay people lots of money to design you something that looks better than any other website with Google Ads on it
They started with good content, which led to lots of visitors, which led to advertisers that pay money to advertise on their site. It's a simple concept. If you are one of those people that is trying the made for adsense thing and throwing a bunch of previously published content up, then this will never happen to you. Also, if you are a believer that 200 sites are better than one, then this will never happen for you.
I'm in no-way one of those, supporting MFA(s) and AdSense spam blogs. I was thinking of making one design blog. I already own a tech blog, but was thinking to do things in parallel. I don't believe in making small dollars from Adsense. I believe in making it a hallmark. I'm not one, who writes for google. The internet is made of People and not Google alone
Just work on your design skills. I truly think well designed pages lead to conversions on all fronts...not just google. Adsense is pennies unless you have real heavy traffic. How do you get heavy traffic = design nice looking pages with good contents. I've spent days designing pages for a small niche I do, they are mini-books on the topic...and they are by far the most profitable content I do. Auto-Blogs and DataFeed centers are for rookies.
I respectfully 100% disagree! There's an old adage saying "don't put all your eggs in one basket". If your ONLY site gets a Google penalty or loses traffic, you're ****ed. So maybe 200 sites is exaggerated, but 20 sites is always better than one site.
smashingmagazine layout looks pretty simple to me. I'm sure you can find a template to match the site very easily.
