I'm thinking about using signature links. Will this be helpful for placement?

Links from do-follow Signatures are very good for seo purpose and google considers it.

dofollow sig links wil lbe counted as backlinks given that the pages do get indexed and your link gets folloed by googlebot. however, signature links lost their value over time and they are dont pass quality link juice to your site anymore

Sig links do count for a little link juice in my experience but not much. In the past I used to think they counted for a fair bit of SERPs improvement but looking back my improvements may have been because at the time I was building links via forum posting I was also building other links, especially as one of the reasons I was posting on webmaster forums was to pick up tips about how to improve SERPS by blog commenting and so on.

There is no difference in signature links. It will be counted as same as any other backlink.

It's good for backlink, and be sure to use good anchor text for your link.

They are good if do-follow otherwise not so good for seo , but the extra exposure is always good.

I don't know if it's a coincidence, but once I started getting a lot of backlinks from forums my rankings in Google have dropped. I started off having higher PR backlinks and wonder if the ones from forums are bringing down my average backlink PR. I'm not sure if Google looks at all your backlinks and says.. well you have 100 PR3 backlinks and 5000 n/a or PR0 so you are not as good as someone with 105 PR3 and 500 PR0. Maybe there is a ratio of backlinks?? Just a wild guess.

Well said, thus you may say that 'forum posting' links have lost their value...'blog commenting' is still very valuable though

Agreed, extra exposure is always good:)

but we have to consider the PR we leave our links right? so quality of the backlink is not the same in any case. This is only my opinion, no offense.

    Kind regards

Everybody talks about quality of backlink. Beside PR, relevancy is second. But google does not think.
I have a wine tasting site. I have a request of link from a company selling stain remover, the reason is that they have the word "wine" among their stains to remove. I didn't follow the request thinking it is not relevant, but how does google know that? It seems quite difficult to assess relevancy I believe.
So if I get signature on wine forums or on sports forum or whatever, how does google know all what makes sense to humans.
As a matter of fact, I could link on my site saying that if you spotted your carpet after tasting, check this...

Signature links from high PR forums (above 6) would be really helpful for a new site to be indexed extremely prompt. Of course, they are juicy for your targeted keywords in anchor text. :)

    Have a nice day,

The signature links are useful to increase backlinks and get some PR. Not very much helpful in increase ranking..But your website receives traffic from the signature links as well.
