So... the billion+ page spam site was able to achieve top 10 results for extremely competetive keywords. This was using brand new domains that did not have age. There are some things that we can learn from this. I am looking for a few experienced SEOs that want to bounce some ideas around and see what we can all learn from this. Jamison
care to make some sense ??? you state it used domains A site has only one domain which is its URL. it may have sub-domains... but these are not domains as you stated what billion page spam site?? Thanks
I'm with Jamison my industry was recently flooded with sites that were complete spam and they have somehow managed to avoid the sandbox and outrank sites that are years old in the industry with thousands upon thousands of pages cahced and thousands and thousands of relevant inbound links... how did they pull this off?
Are the domains old? Maybe they bought old domains and re-branded them. Google has a bug in their algorithm. It assigns too much weight to old domain registrations.
Ahhhh....I have the perfect answer for this , He is a fellow member of DP , and explains this how it should be explained -------->http://www.stuartmchenry.com/beat-today’s-36000-biting-off-more-than-you-can-chew.html I present to you Stuarts Great Blog!
Ok.... so maybe it wasn't one site. It was several sites that added up to over a billion pages. These sites were on freshly registered domains and were able to rank for very competitive terms. Like I said, I am looking for others who want to talk about it. I have been doing SEO for about 12 years, so... I have some insight. I am looking for a few other like-minded individuals who want to talk about this further. And... I am thinking we take the conversation somewhere private. Maybe a msn group. Jamison
Oh come on man......If you have been doing seo for 12 years..THEN you know the answer to this ...its called SPAM~~ I havent seen any spammers get keywords like : 1) " Books " 2) " Pizza " 3) " Food " 4) " Games " Seems like you are looking for a spamming partner to me.... Why the " private " talk?
Well brew.... I know the answers to a lot of things. These spam sites were able to rank top 10 for HIGHLY competitive keywords. And they were released from the sandbox for a reason. If you don't "get it", I don't have time to explain it to you. As you would notice, I don't post on boards much at all. I simply don't have the time. And as for a spam partner... If I wanted one, I would come out and say it. But, I doubt I would be looking here. If you don't have anything valuable to contribute... then why not just keep movin...?
Jamison There are those 'larger' publishers who are using parked domains and blog link spam to get through the the aging delay a bit quicker. (Sandbox is an Adwords tool) Another part of the algorithim that will get you past the aging dealy is traffic & clicks. You see popularity comes into play and by sending traffic to a domain plus finding people to click on your websites listing in Google makes googlebot pay more attention to your site...forcing it to revisit and pick up more hits in a greater number each time it visits. It sees all the traffic and clicks to the site and Google assumes your site is popular, so much like Digg, Myspace etc....if a site is popular and trendy then Google shoves it past the aging delay as the site is what user wants and as such Google delivers. Remember spiderbots are brainless and easily manipulated. In fact a smart person could probably write a bot to find their URL in the SERPS and click it....they would not need to pay anyone to do this and with enough hosting accounts could make it seem like the clicks were coming from various IP addresses which would be needed to make the site seem popular. Paying pennies for clicks and untargetted traffic reaps $$$ in ROI. My thoughts and I just woke up.....need to start my coffee IV
It's ALL about backlinks - lots and lots of them. Do some link queries on those domains and take a closer look at the sites linking to them. You should be able to learn more. Then go over to syndk8 and lurk for awhile - there is a WEALTH of info to reap just by reading the posts. If you're lucky, you may even be able to get some help/advice once you establish yourself in the group. Good Luck!
