Page rank drop after Hubpage backlink

Usually when I make a new website for a local business I can get it listed on the 2nd page results within 2 days. For some reason everything I usually do is making my page rank drop. I recently added a link to the site through a Hubpage article. I dropped 3 pages in the results!

Do you think Google recognizes a new site and then recognizes a new article in Hubpage linked to the new page and assumes it's a marketer? This was the first time I made a new site and immediately made a Hubpage linked to it. It's also the first time a site has dropped that many pages.

It has nothing to do with Hubpages. It's because your site is new. Google ranks new sites well at first, then drops them for about three months.

Hmmm, I did not know that. I have created sites for local businesses before and they only moved up. I never experienced the drop. First time for everything I guess.

The statement by searchbliss is correct. Most new sites do well at first, then drop big time. There was a time when this effect was so wide spread the term "sandbox" was coined. I am not saying your site is sandboxed. I *am* saying that the effect is the same.

If you've never experienced it before . . . welcome to the club. :)

Yeah dreaded sandbox effect definitely exists but I hve also experienced that backlinks from popular article directories like ezine, goarticles can prevent your site from dropping a deep in to search results...I would suggest you to write few unique words and submit to ezines for author bio links, if your new sites are currently doing good!

New site tends to have unstable position on google, its normal. Your site should find its position in 1 or 2 weeks, keep building the backlinks gradually and you should be fine.

The backlink from hubpages are no-follow so it has nothing to do with your rankings.

It's not correct that back link from hubpage will drop your rank, there might be other reasons. So analyze properly to get the answer.

The links from Hubpages are dofollow if your score is above 75.

From my experience. If you buy a domain name like abcdefg.com and then link to it with abcdefg then you do not get sandboxed. If you bought abcdefg.com and then linked to it with "credit cards" from hubpages for example then google is going to get suspicious and sandbox you. My advice? It really is advantageous to buy keyword domains and then link to them with their exact name.

When you get sandboxed, is it something temporary or does Google pretty much keep you on the bad list for awhile? Since I just bought the domain, I should buy another one without the keyword in the domain. Then I'll forget about the Hubpage link and see where I end up in the rankings.
