I agree with Mia. The software does do a good job at what it does. But like anything else it needs to maintained and enhanced over time. I have owned OG for at least 5 years now. The problem today is the unknown, no one has heard from Shawn in a while, the product was road mapped a while back to be re-written in PHP, no support or guidence as to what the state of or the future of the company/product which is why we started looking at other solutions.
It'd be nice to just see some incremental updates to the current FM platform at this point short of re-writing, which while "planned", I'm not confident was ever really fully intended. The biggest thing we need is the CC Auth Plugin for OSX!! This would likely require a Java Companion for OSX as well. I think ACME made this stuff.
We are using Platypus. Opti not PCI compliant for Credit Cards. Didn't want to spend a ton up front so went with Plat for a simple low monthly fee that insures support and updates. Like any new billing system, it is a process to convert and learn but at least there is good support.
What do you mean by not "PCI compliant"??? We've had absolutely no problems billing credit cards using Optigold. Been doing it for 12 years now! I found Platy cumbersome, over bloated, confusing and really, really disorganized!!! We used it in our wireless business as provisioning seemed to be easier to script. However, from the sales side of it, it SUCKED really bad... Just way too complicated IMO...
hmmm, are you an ISP or a programmer who wants to make a billing system for ISPs? Either way, you should rather be asking what functionality such system should have, not under what OS it runs and what database it uses ... Quality software should be cross-platform and should be able to use any database that supports ANSI SQL
Agreed.. Just think if OG were Open Source and generic enough to utilize open development tools rather than clunky outdated unsupported software like FM... wow.. shutter to think. Oh well.
Not sure what isp you are referring to in particular but hosting is using whmcs which is so/so. Modernbill used to rule but it was taken over or bought out by the virtuozu people a while back if I remember right.
I am searching the web since months trying to find a good and cost effective billing solution for my ISP but i didnt find anything like OG, I tried to contact the company without any response. do you know if I still can purchase the software from any other place or at least to have a cracked version! if not do you know anyone who is no longer using his licensed version and welling to sell it for me?
deal really there are many who is not interested in OG and welling or already shifted to other systems so why not to sell it,I am wondering why OG stopped working while they have a good software?! any legal way to have a copy?
http://www.digitalpoint.com/products/pricing.html#isp That's gonna be around $3k then. I'd suggest either contacting Shawn and asking if he is still actively selling licenses, or look at getting something else.
