Hi All, If I use my articles at ezine and article directories as sample of my writing work, are they sufficient to showcase my writing skills? In previous thread, I discussed about my ghostwriting work. I do not have any published work in my name but thousands as ghostwriting. However, I do have my work at Associated Content, Hubpages, Ezinearticles and my blogs. Are these sufficient in lack of paid published work with writer's byline. Please suggest. Thanks
Personally this is the impression it would give me, You claim to have written "thousands" of articles but you only have one….? article On ezine? (and 7 posts on DP). I would think that a professional writer that has written "thousands" of works could easily build an elaborate blog. But that’s just me.
I could not get what are you saying? I have many articles on these sites which I mentioned. But I work as a ghostwriter for my clients. I do have a nice blog. Regarding posts at DP, I joined it just recently and did not visit much. Anyways, there is no need to explain things. I just asked for a genuine suggestion, if you can. Thanks
leave the first reply writesolutions . seeing your nick, i get an impression that you are a writer. yes, you can show off ezine articles as a sample, because all the ezine articles must pass a level of acceptance unlike the other sites where the level of acceptance is really high.
Sorry I read the OP wrong the title was Ezine then I missed the other sites and personal blogs. (yeah, sometimes I am a skimmer) Personally I like reading peoples blogs, ezine is ok but a lot of the other article sites are full of click ads and look like hell this makes it hard for me to enjoy reading on them and gives me a poor reading experience. I would spruce up your personal bolg and keep it looking clean and professional. That makes a good impression IMO.
You can setup a freelance writing website. It wont cost you much, probably around $50 a year maybe even less depeding on where you host it. You can use ezinearticles.com as a way to showcase your work. I do recommend that you work toward getting platinum status. But it is a requirement, really it just allows you to have quicker acceptance. Personal blogs are a great way to showcase your writing skills. Find some other freelance writing sites or blogs and read them daily. You can learn a great deal from reading other peoples work. Good Luck in this business.
I would add a reference line in my portfolio pointing to Ezine articles for those wanting to go farther after reviewing your on-site sample articles
I think it's perfectly acceptable. Just mention that you do a lot of ghostwriting so you're unable to link directly to samples that you've done for clients, but that your EZAs can give an idea of your writing ability.
Can you ask your preivous clients for testimonials? Having a paying client vouch for the quality of your work would surely make up for a having a smaller portfolio. With thousands of articles under your belt, could you write a few more to build up your named portfolio? I think it would be worth it.
Hi All, Thank you all for your wonderful suggestions. When I joined DP, I did not think that people are so helpful here. Thanks
Many IMs who are in search of somebody to submit articles to the directories will definitely love your showcase in ezine articles but I personally prefer having a blog which is being updated regularly. This would be more appealing to me if i'm the buyer. Thanks
Ezinearticles is a good option, but having your professional writing portfolio website will be much better IMO! I have designed and customized few writer's portfolio websites, and they are converting good clients as well. So it does work for sure, best of luck
I think it's better to showcase your best articles, regardless where you post it. It is better to showcase articles from different topics to highlight the fact that you can write on a broad niche.
