Hey all, i've just made this new humor blog. I would like your opinion about it . Its made using wordpress, and the theme i build opon Fresh 0.8, but i heavily tweaked by myself . Do you like the design, and what about my ad placement and blending ? I would love some crititisem =). You can find the site at - http://dild.net
Wow, that's bright ... First, HTML Validator for Firefox tells me you've no errors nor warnings. Congrats. Nice to see a site that can pull this off. http://dild.net/about/ is a funky page. You've consistently (it appears) got the About column on the right side of every page. Why have 'About' listed under your 'Pages' heading if the text is on every page already? Along with this, why have a three column design when two columns could really, easily, be combined into one column? Gives you a bit more space in your main content area, which would result in a smaller page height, and I think, I nice site. I'm not crazy about the right side margin at 1280x1024 screen resolution, as I'd like to see it center align, or fill up the entire page (of course, you could have some padding around the entire page, so you keep that clean look), but I think it works. Overall, other than the columns issue, and it being a bit too bright, I think it works really well. I also wouldn't dull the colours since I think that gives it it's look ... Last comment, which is actually a question, what's 'dild'? Or, why dild? How do I remember your domain name, even if it is so short?
First of all, thank you very much for your inputs . Well, dild is the danish word for dill - you know the herb. So i guess you'll might think, why do want a humor blog with that name. You know what, i really don't know, i choose it kinda just for fun. In Denmark, we have had a tv program called "Casper og Mandril aftalen", and they used a lot of black humor(is that the right word in english ?), and thats basicly were i got the name from. Well, you could remember it because it's such a sort domain name. And if you find it hard to remember you could always say "i just gotta check d-i-l-d.net. Or you could remember the name like this: Think of a dildo, and just delete the o . I believe the domain name is pretty easy to remember, ex why do you remember google?
Well, ofcause marketing plays a big part. But i believe that if i update everyday, with good content the readers will return again, and remember the domain name .
That's good, found something to make me laugh. I'd add a few pictures to the page, it's all text, and a few funny or interesting pictures might give it a warmer feeling. Just a thought, good luck with it...
I guess strivinglife did most of the reviewing work so i would give little adsense tips. You are missing a adlink, it works if placed at right places (read top of the fold). Blending is nice but you can move your second banner from second post and experiment with some other ads.
I migth consider that, i could just once in a while ada a picture to some of my posts. Thanks =). and saadahmed007 also thank you . jacksmith, i've tried something new, and i might add the adlink at the top of the page, just below my banner . I'll try and see how that will work out. Thanks .
