Hi All I was told recently, by someone who should know, that backlinks (obviously the right backlinks) account for 80% of Google's ranking of a site. When I used to do SEO a few years ago backlinks were important but so was keyword density, domain name, content etc. Has it changed that much? Steve
Well, maybe he's not right but there's some true in what he says. Backlinks are probably one of the most important things to rank in the SERPs.
Getting backlinks is important, Google has said so on their blog and in their videos, so make sure you get some. But having your blog updated with fresh content matters to, and a domains age also has some relevance as far as a trust factor.
Well I think that content, regular updates and good backlinks are the biggest requirements for good ranking.
Content is most Important factor then Backlinks..There are many other Factors which are also important & helps in getting good ranks in serp's.
Backlinks are used to promote your website and content, you can't rely only on the content. I'll give a 50 and 50 to backlinks and content.
I do believe backlinks are king....and yes SEO has changed that much in the past few years. That being said, content can drive links and anyone would be crazy not to focus on both at the same time. I don't believe that the on site stuff like keyword density matters much, if at all, anymore. You need to have your site written for humans, not bots and there isn't any reason to think Google doesn't understand that.
Backlinks are necessary. You can have the best content in the world, but without backlinks it will not rise in the serps.
In the Search Optimization field, Content is King for optimization to website and secondary thing is backlinks. If you make properly set then your site faster to get ranking.
This is not true. I have sites that rank very well with little to no backlinks. The content on the site is what gets it ranked.
Its a 50/50 in my opinion, content is just as important as backlinks. Either way they both work in your favor and I wouldn't suggest favoring one more then the other
You need to find a new source of information. Backlinks actually play a much smaller role in ranking than people want to believe. AUTHORITY of sites linking to you plays a huge role. Get a Google Analytics account. Note all the factors that Google is tracking for you... these are all potential ranking criteria... little things like time on site, pages entered pages existed, and even new speculation on how fast your site loads. So many factors go into ranking. Links do in fact deliver information to Google... but it's so far beyond just the links themselves... it's the information the links provide about your site.
No way are backlinks 80% of google's algorithm .. no freakin way 100% guaranteed. One of my websites (6 months old) has 8 keywords which are all over 1k broad searches (one is 33k) and I rank 1st page BING and YAHOO for ALL of them! I rank 38-180 on google for all of them. so google uses something else to rank me than yahoo and bing.. dont know but.. its definitely not backlinks.
Completely agree.. As the content is king and good content reduce the bounce rate and this will help to build traffic of your website. On the other hand back links are very important for getting good SERP. So they both together rules SEO.
