What Is Pinging and How does it Help with SEO?

Hi Guys,

Sorry for the stupid question but was wondering, what exactly is pinging, and how does it help with seo. I keep reading it in the forums but can't figure out what it does.

Also, i hear Rss helps with your seo, would apprecaite if someone has the patience to direct me to a resource on how to do these 2 and how it helps.

According to my knowledge, Pining is related to tell the search engines and other medias that there is something new or updated content on concerned page. It is also used to ask for crawling the page.

 

Since you're smart enough to post in a forum you're smart enough to use google to find out what those things are.

Regarding benefit to SEO. there is none. However, pinging and RSS are ways to a) find networks who may be interested in your content and letting them know you exist, and b) giving people an easy way to access your content.

 

Thanks for the response. I actually have been reading, but just can't figure out why people ping the articles they write for seo purposes.

 

its the process of letting some other websites know that you have published some content on your website; also an invitation for them to crawl.

Pinging is used for fast crawling of your links. Blog Blaster is one of the most effective tool I found.

 

Pinging means, telling the search engines, that there is new or modified content in my blog, come and get it, then the search engines are supposed to come over and spider/crawl your site and add/update the contents into their index. You can use tool like PIngomatic.com to automatically ping several other engines for faster indexing. This is not a 'given' however, this is only an effort to get your site or blog indexed.

 

Pinging simply let's blog search engines know that your content has been updated. This results in your site being crawled faster by the relevant blog spiders. If it is not a blog there really is no point pinging the page.

There are loads of things you can do from an SEO point of view to make a site more visible, the problem is you either have to learn it or pay someone to implement it.

 

Pinging your backlinks is extremely important. I use ping-o-matic to ping all my related blog backlinks and forum backlinks. This way Google will crawl that website again and find my backlinks that I created and give them some juice.
