Selling Popular file mirroring website. 10k unique visitors, 23k members - custom code/design

http://Gazup.com is a file mirroring website which makes uploading files to multiple file hosts easy. We launched in December 2008 and currently average 10,000 uniques per day, have 23,000 members and 1 million file mirrors. The website is unique; 100% custom code and design. Unfortunately we have lost focus with the website and it needs a fresh new owner.

• Upload a file and our server mirrors it to other top file hosts.
• Cool file mirror page with progress bars for each file host, optional descriptions and image upload boxes.
• Upload a video and we will make video screenshots automatically
• Optional member control panel where users can manage their files.
• Remotely upload files from other URL's.

Growth:

At the beginning of last year we decided to pay members to upload files and the traffic was up to 100,000+ unique visitors per day. Unfortunately the advertisements were not covering the amount of rewards we were giving our users so we ditched rewards. In hindsight it would of worked if we had launched a premium member option with advanced features so we would have then profited from subscription revenue.

Improvements to revenue:

• Find a better advertisement method than XtendMedia which pay silly CPM prices.
• Add something like CPALead to out going links so users have to complete a survey or something.
• Add LinkBucks or the likes to out going links.
• Add a frame to out going links so you can include a banner.
• Develop a premium membership with advanced features so you can profit from subscriptions.
• Move to a VPS server for the frontend saving $100/m.

Server costs:

• Main site server $145/m from SingleHop.com. To be honest you could easily fit this onto a $50/m VPS server. Q8550, 8GB ram, 500gb harddrive.
• Upload server $151/m from WebNX.com: Intel q8200, 8gb ram, 2x500gb hdd, 5tb bandwidth, 100mbps port.

Our investment (since launch):

• Domain: $1000
• Logo: $200
• Design and development $10k
• Reward scheme payments $7k
• Server costs: $4k
• = ~$22,200

We are listing the website for $5k-10k which we feel this is a good price for a unique developed website with 10,000 unique visitors and 23,000 members. You would be pushed to get a website developed like ours, with a unique design and decent brand for this sale price, let alone a fully established website with traffic.

Revenue Details:

At the moment we just have two CPM banner ads on the mirror page and a popup, there are no ads on the home page. We use XtendMedia and they pay poor rates. Adsense banned us because a user uploaded an adult file and AdBrite banned us because of click-fraud (someone tried to get us banned and succeeded).We did use PayPopup which was making more money but their popups were full of viruses so we decided to ditch them.

As you can see the revenue for a site with 10,000 unique visitors is incredibly poor and can easily be improved. Below is revenue from XtendMedia only. We did have Adbrite and Adsense but I can not login to either of those accounts. I do remember us having a $2-3k month but this was when we offered rewards so the traffic was higher.

Interesting prospect but that's 24 months revenue

wow i can't believe u guys are actually selling this.

 

Anyone who has time can easily make 24 months into 6-12 months so something to remember. The site is not monetized properly.
