If I can't get .com then I like .org, .net is number three for me.

Depends on what type of site, whether it fits better with .net or .org. All else being equal I'd go with the dropped .net as its age may contribute to SEO rankings.

If the domain name is also your company name, then there is no harm in going for the .org tld, otherwise as suggested by majority... you should select .net! :)

    * Always select the TLD (Top Level Domains) with extension. Com,. Net,. Org,. Info
    * A good domain name, no combination of numbers, dashes (diameter) in it.
    * In addition to the above considerations, always select the domain name to form words in English marketing.com example, do not select a domain with a messy combination of letters.
    * Choose a domain with more than a year old, is to facilitate your future sales.
    * Check if your domain candidates in a state of the blacklist google or not.

The name should be easy to pronounce, easy to spell and memorable. People who have visited your web site will find it again much more easily if the domain name rolls off their tongue very smoothly and is spelled just the way it sounds.

In my opinion .net & .org are identical if all other things (age, PR, links) being equal ...

2TS - I personally prefer dropped, but with some links on it.

Try to get a .com but if you can't a .net would work better.

Stick with .com all the way unless you're gonna run a non-prof. Forget any other extensions exist. We'll maybe .tv if you focus on streaming video.
If you are a bit more specific on what the keywords for your domain are, maybe someone here can help you find a good .com for your site.
