Hi, I want to stream something on Justin.TV (or Ustream) or any other online streaming website where it's free to broadcast things, but I don't want to use my Internet bandwitch to stream it. Would it be possible to stream on those sites via a server and use that bandwith instead of your own internet?
The method you're curious about is totally possible and there are actually people who do this method to broadcast on JTV for continuous 24/7 streaming. I'm not exactly sure how it works but I can most certainly assure you that people DO currently use this method on JTV a lot =D I've always been curious on how they do this... If you find out how it's done, PM me?
I had a feeling that it was possible, but I couldn't figure out myself yet, and mailing JTV doesn't help (no answer) Hoping someone here could give me an answer. I have dedicated servers, but by broadcasting through JTV they eat my own internet's bandwidth.
That is one thing I absolutely cannot stand about JTV. Their support is TERRIBLE. I e-mailed them at the bare minimum of SIX full months ago. They sent me an auto-response back "We'll contact you back within 48 hours". To this day, I have STILL yet to hear from them! Haha. I am now a JTV Producer, only because I contacted someone personally from within who handles the JTV Producer department. However, I am on the verge of switching to UStream. UStream's visual quality isn't as good (seems to have worse frame rate and less visual quality) but their support and backend tools totally blow the competition out of the water WITH the whole concept of their ad-revenue-sharing partner program. I e-mailed UStream about being in their partner program and, less than 24 hours I got a response saying they'd like me to join the program and even gave me instructions on how to go about doing it. I am just hoping they straighten up and get their servers more sorted out for better viewing. When I broadcast, I use Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder 3 - If I remember correctly there should be server input options somewhere. Have you tried this yet?
