What is a good plan for my site?

My site is hosted on a virtual server. The traffic is not high about 1gb/day and CPU usage is usually 50%. I probably need to move the site to a dedicated server since the CPU usage is a little high. Do you guys think so? But I don't know what kind of dedicated servers are enough -- is Opteron 1216 + 2 GB RAM enough or I need a better one??

    Thanks for any advice!

CPU usage is 50% of what? And who's your current provider? Doesn't look like your site would be very resource consuming, but what kind of a site do you currently run?

    Hi, it is a blog+directory site and on 1and1. I don't like 1and1 though...

1&1 is terrible with hosting. You'd be fine on a separate VPS - it seems as if they heavily limit you.

I had domains with 1&1 and they drove me crazy...

I think we need to have a look at the your current VPS config to give anty suggestion regarding prospective dedicated server

If you want to buy dedicated server,

    buy from the theplanet.com,

you could also consider cloud hosting from rackspace.com

    but for best vps,

    go to softsyshosting.com or ixwebhosting.com

    Is that on linux?

And they don't seem to mention CPU usage anywhere, I think they only allow you to use a very small part of 1 core of their CPU from what you've shown us. But knowing 1&1 you should keep backups of your own just in case.

They are still billing me for a domain I don't have with them. I used paypal to pay and I'm glad I was able to cut off the subscriptions they forced on me. The domain expired in august 2009 and I still get reminders to renew from time to time

    Dude...come on.
