Hello, Someone told me that sitelinks are not enabled on my directory. When I asked him about sitelinks he gave me this URL http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=47334. But I am not still clear about what sitelinks are. Can you please tell me in simpler words? Thank you!
He doesn't know what he is talking about. Visit this link http://www.google.com/search?client...=s&hl=en&source=hp&q=adobe&btnG=Google+Search See the first result, and see how theres an additional 8 links beneath it, called Downloads, Photoshop Family etc etc, well they are sitelinks. And the 2nd result, theres 4 sitelinks underneath, all on the same line. Hopefully i can also clear up any future confusion for you too by saying this: If you are ever told that a site that has sitelinks is an "Authority" site, ignore them, because it does not mean authority. Im guessing that guy that gave you the first link was an seo expert? Oh, and you cant enable this in any site, its something that google does, but im not aware that google chooses any sites for this, it basically happens to some sites.
But how sitelinks from any specific sites get indexed? I think that such sitelinks are indexed for only official company websites etc.
no, it's not for company websites only, you can find tons of websites that get sitelinks, no matter big or small.
As WallaceYeung points out, on allsorts of sites, even warez sites. I have sitelinks for one of my sites and its not a company site. As google say themselves, its an automated process, or something along those lines.
