Is this Spam... Are you spamming this thread... I see you have the “fantastic†detail pages we love.
I am what ? Spamming ? I just gave you my feedback, on what a quality directory is PS: http://ask-dir.com/ - How come you have a nofollow on EVERY LINK IN THIS SITE ? Even on category pages... ?
Look closely I only have it on select places, for example I don’t want the “About us†or “Contact us†page to have PR I prefer to push it to the listings,
I did looked closely (check out the attachment). I also wrote on a better pagerank and trust distribution pattern, inside a website, but I think this is way to far
Ok, thanks for the link, after pagerank update I will se if it works, or else back to the drawing board.
Cristian knows he can spam my thread and I'll let him get away with it, although I'll write it down in my little black book of bad behaviour for safe-keeping. Cristian, it was like spam considering I didn't ask for links to quality examples. I wish you'd take PayPal though cause I have no way to pay otherwise and would like to list my sites.
Colleen, for you, I promise I'll delete my post .. Want that ? I'll crawl on the floor too. I have no dignity. If I had Paypal, I would've been rich now.
No, I don't mind it, but you can't deny what it is. I'll be adding them to my directory when I update.
I don't think PR is an important factor when judging the quality of a directory. There are a few points I think are important, though most have been stated above: It must be aesthetically pleasing and it should be updated regularly. The fact that the code is custom usually implies that the webmaster plans on investing his time in the directory, so that can also be an important factor. URLs must be SEO friendly: http://domain.com/Category/Sport/Rugby and not http://domain.com/category.php?cat=Sport&sub=rugby However I don't think the number of categories the directory has is a good indicator of its quality.
A SEO Friendly directory does not always equate with "quality" - some of the worst (spammy) directories out there are seo friendly.
Exactly, which is a prime example for seo tunnel vision. Strong branding is something I think will add in determining longevity of a directory, like long term quality. Sometimes you just need to listen to your instinct. Like the feeling that you get, how much the owner takes care of it, how well it's designed and so on. And yes, Christian's directories are badass
