Hi guys i need some suggestions on directory gurus in this section. I have this directory Websites Directory Its a 3 months old directory and i wanted to make it big.. As you can see the template design is very simple. I made it myself and i know theres nothing special there and I am thinking hiring someone to do the design.. I am planning my link campaign on febuary Do you think making this directory Free and paid featured listing a good idea? Or all paid..
You gotta work on "About Us" page. The link aint active! Add a logo to the directory...On the "Submit" page, right by the checkbox above the Submit button the two links (rules) lead to the same page, you may want to remove one. As far as making the directory free or paid goes, I'd suggest making it paid if you're willing to invest in it...
I would do away with the live stats, and why does it say businessdirectory.com in the footer? Its 3 months old and you have approved one link? and have 25 pending links, and you want to make it big?
Thanks alistair80 for your inputs.. BTW nice directory you got there. What script did you use in that directory? The reason there is only one active link is I just decided today to do something on this directory because i was busy on other projects. Its been idle for 3 months and i think now its the time to make something out of it. Thanks for noticing that thing in the footer. i will remove that immediately..
You sorted the footer but you never got round to reviewing submissions, get some listings in the damn thing. Thanks Brian
Like others said, you need to get listings into your directory, also links in the footer do not seem to work. Also I like design of the directory, so if you get rid of it, do give the design to me
Paid listings will save you time and might get you more revenue if you offer regular listings at a low price of $1-$2.
One small suggestion. Guess, you may need to change that "Internets" to "Internet". "Internets" does mean something opposite: "Internets" is a Bushism-turned-catchphrase used humorously to portray the speaker as ignorant about the Internet or about technology in general, or as having a provincial or folksy attitude toward technology. : Wikipedia
On the submission form, the text size for the data entry fields is extremely small. I was using FireFox and even tried to Zoom to make the text larger. . . nothing. Also, I agree that webdirectories99, a low price of $1-$2 is a very good marketing tool. But, you need to get in and do your approvals or else people get upset, even if it is only $1. /*tom*/
Suggestion #1 - Stop referring to your directory as PR [insert whatever number] Suggestion #2 - Start all over and stop looking like a cookie cutter of a directory Suggestion #3 - Try a new script? You asked for suggestions and I am merely providing my own .o2, so don't take it to heart as I do not candy coat anything.
Add one good site listing per Top category, then work on your site, don't be in a rush to add a listing just for the sake of putting things in there. Don't worry about search engines or whatever paranoia that make people think the SE's are going to penalize them for not having anything to feed it. I've had sites that was idled with a few text "Welcome to Blah, blah" and I actually got visits for those keywords and retained my PR because it was linked to a good source. Your PR will remain as long as it has a good backing, contents has nothing to do with it. Work on your site, decide whether you want to make it pay or free, add nice template and logos. If your going to make it Free, the submission company will go nuts on it and you will be getting 100's from one guy, you will be a slave to them, make sure it is what you want. Don't be afraid to delete if they break your submission guidelines. If you have ads, make sure their clicking on it to show appreciation to you on your Pending/Approved email, per Adsense, you cannot say to click on ads, but just say you need some support from them. You should be making $10/20 a day from ads, if not go back to paid.
I am now approving links slowly.. I will take care of this directory this january.. I am seeing a lot of submissions from several IP's only though.
