Hi guys, Recently I wrote a post on my blog which basically confessed to all the mistakes I have made as a webmaster. The post is http://www.scribblescratch.com/confessions-of-a-failed-web-entrepreneur/ if you want to read it in detail. Anyway it made me wonder what other mistakes fellow webmasters have made. Here is a quick list of some of my most embarrassing mistakes: Surveys- I cant believe I thought i could make an online living from filling out surveys Buying high PR Domains- Obviously scam. Pyramid (affiliate) scheme - I was on the bottom funding the players at the top. Need I say more Reselling ebooks - crap quality, crap sales. There are a few more which i won't elaborate on here (you wll have to read my post) but I am looking forward to hearing some replies.
when I was webmaster for Gambling.com I one time accidentally reset everyone's tournament game accounts pissing off about 500,000 people oooops....
I have spent thousand of GBP to purchase some internet marketer so called holy grail to make money online. But in the end of the day,i follow 100% of the step, but my site not earning anything.
@ Mentos there are some decent infomation packages available but most are just junk. Any time someone could be making more money implementing there idea as oppossed to selling it, is going to be a scam.
Haha. I'm glad you're still alive to tell about it. My biggest mistake was creating a site for a client on a COD basis and accidentally sent him the source files before collecting. Never heard from him again.
I once told someone my niche that was making bank and they turned around and copied it. It really cut into my income a lot. I had no competition/very limited for a long time. Here's a good article on the top 10 affiliate mistakes. I bet that most new affiliates have done at least half of them. Try search "mistake" and you will come up with some other good articles.
I was suppose to promote sample.com/home/ but I only do on sample.com which is different from the given page of my buyer. At the end no improvement for sample.com/home/. LOL!
I have seen domain names that are pretty embarrassing. For example MSExchange by Microsoft was read as M Sex Change ;-)
These are pretty good. Trusting other online webmasters is unfortunately a mistake most of the time. I a fairly sure Microsoft started a new arm of thier business that dealt specifficaly with M sex change
