My OS is Linux, specifically Ubuntu Karmic. However, most marketing software are developed for Windows. Although there is a program called, Wine, which simulates Windows, it doesn't always work. So I'm wondering if there are marketers here using Linux and how successful have you been. What apps are you using in your marketing endeavors?
I use ubuntu. my software is all online, so os doesn't matter. I don't buy software that is limited to windows.
Most marketing software/sweets are browser based in this day in age... As far as WINE, most desktop software should work. If not, just download VirtualBox (.) org and install windows into a virtual machine. Problem solved.
I used to run Linux, but it became difficult trying to find compatibility with Windows software. Sure WINE works well, but I have no problems with 7 and I've had that running on my desktop for a few weeks, rocks hard!
No problem, Virtual Box is great and is 100% free. I have often used it to run virtual machines on my own system, whether it be a different windows build, or a Linux build of some sort! It's a great piece of gear to have installed on your system without a doubt.
