the funny part is when you said " I tried to design a logo..." Which part of the logo did you design ? You just used clipart. that's all. I have nothing against stock/clipart, but if you use it you have to state it with your entry. I am not trying to discredit you, I only like fair contests. CH needs something original and if you use a clipart that has been downloaded many times, the CH have the right to know that. @scorpionagency thanks for the law lesson. (great designer, btw)
Nice catch guys. @Scorp Thank you for the trademark lesson. (thats scorp for you!) @Pros Just create other image. Show them how you design. (I really mean create) @CH Im gonna enter this one, Please wait.
Wow, this thread grew fast! Sorry for the delay but I responded when I had time which happens to be at 1 in the morning. Here goes! @scorpionagency: No worries at all. I appreciate the heads up as it will save me from giant headaches down the road. It would be fantastic if you had the time to enter. ;-) To Everyone: Make use of visual representations of some or all of the following keywords: "Cloud Computing" "Cubes" "Databases" "Business Intelligence" "Reporting Services" "Security" One I think should be included is a cloud of some sort. Keep it professional though, nothing too cartoony unless you can make the whole thing cartoony while keeping it to a business level. Also if you could include databases, a report with a bar graph or pie graph, cubes, etc. They are just ideas but I'm leaning towards using a cloud somehow as that is an emerging technology and be a big part of the future of the business my client is in. To Individuals: @black-neage: I like the Web 2.0 look but it's just too simple. @keshavn73: I like the alternating text color but not the font and I'm not sure what the image is but I don't agree with the art style of it. @Pros: While I do like the professional look you bring in your logo I cannot agree with the use of the stock images. @biruhato: I really love how you made the ".NET" part smaller for a unique fit the first one is too military for my taste and the 2nd is way too simple. @famtaro: I like the varying color scheme but it is too simple. @Twins Graph: While security is a big factor in the database business I don't think a lock should be the main focus. That and the font looks Greek which doesn't fit what I'm looking for. I do like the uniqueness though, maybe incorporate the above mentioned keywords somehow and change the font? @ldigital: The first entry I like the font of the 2nd image although I'm not sure what the row of rectangles on top is supposed to represent. I really like the cube in the 2nd entry as well as how the .net is vertical. Maybe add a more Web 2.0 look and somehow incorporate visuals of the above mentioned keywords? @j0opre: I really like the cubes a lot. Maybe add a more Web 2.0 look and somehow incorporate visuals of the above mentioned keywords?
my entry.....hope you like it. feedback please. the colr is like window XP. if you need to change 2 color, i will provide it.
I understand the issue you are having understanding what I mean. I am differentiating (as it is done legally) between "Brand" and "Brand Name". You are not. I never implied that an image had nothing to do with the brand or even a brand name - just that a "Brand Name" refers exclusively to the linguistic element of a Brand, not the entirety of its public presentation - thus, as I said originally, an image such as that one cannot be part of a "Brand Name", but it can be part "Brand". I really don't know why we're still discussing semantics here, but is all I can really say about that issue, so for more information you can read about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brand or on any of the links to legal documents that you provided. To address your other issue, yes, one of the images I posted was a "reworking" of it. Thanks for keeping it positive TechnoKelvin, people like when its like that Anyway here is another concept. View it in your browser: http://img690.imageshack.us/img690/3363/logobaseu.png The idea behind this one was to focus on the general idea you gave in your first post about analyzing data to find the future. You'll notice that the backdrop of the main writing is a bunch of lines, which at first seems to be just that, but it gives a sense of reassurance subconsciously, as behind each obvious letter, is a capital version of it "hidden" within the lines. If you're familiar with psychology, you'll know this automatically gives the company name a sense of increased importance to the end user (prospective/existing client). I also used this lines pattern to imply that, even though as the slogan says "The future of business is found in the bytes of today", that to the end user, its a complicated system of bytes, and you'd better let DatabaseSquad figure it out for you I had some other variations on that slogan, such as "The future of business is in the bytes of today", but in the end, everything in the .PSD is customizable - its just an idea for you, and feel free to use the slogan even if you don't pick mine. You'll also notice where the keywords are listed, that there are 2 variations of bullet points. I couldn't decide between the two, so I put one of each to show what it would look like if the dividers were more clean vs more bold. The full size of the new design is twice as large as the image shown here, and can be scaled to any size. Let me know what you think, thank you.
I decided to go ahead & enter the contest. My concept may not be what you are looking for, but felt I would take this opportunity to outline a basic 5 step process so that others can see how easy it is to create an original piece of work without using any clipart / stock. I hope you don't mind. Here's my concept Idea Feedback Appreciated
I'm not sure all of the newer particpiants read my previous post so I'm partially reposting it and adding feedback. To Everyone: Make use of visual representations of some or all of the following keywords: "Cloud Computing" "Cubes" "Databases" "Business Intelligence" "Reporting Services" "Security" One I think should be included is a cloud of some sort. Keep it professional though, nothing too cartoony unless you can make the whole thing cartoony while keeping it to a business level. Also if you could include databases, a report with a bar graph or pie graph, cubes, etc. To Individuals: @biruhato: I like this one better but could you incorporate a cloud somehow? @stellah57: I like it a lot. Maybe incoproate some business somehow, like pie graphc, charts, etc.? @yugo: I like the idea of incoporating Microsoft colors but this business isn't Microsoft specific and overall it is too blande. Maybe add a WEb 2.0 look and a cloud / other database objects? @mitcharr: Great job! I think this one is great but could you incorporate some database objects as well as a cloud, while keeping the professional Web 2.0 feel you have going. @Pros: While keeping things positive like you said I feel this is a step down from your previous entry. The font, the colors, the words. Could you build off your original logo without using clip art and adding a cloud / database objects? I really liked the first one. @gipanuhotko: Love the Web 2.0 look as well as the database images. Could you add a cloud as well as some reports, pie graphs, charts, security, etc.? @scorpionagency: Wow, you did an amazing job and I even love how you went through step by step. This has a lot of the elements I asked for. I need to ask the client directly about this one but I think you did a fantastic job. @j0opre: The cloud is very transparent and hard to see. Could you incorporate it more and make it more Web 2.0 glossy? Thanks to everyone so far. This is coming along very well and I look forward to choosing a winner! Let me know if you have any questions or need any clarification.
My Logo for u Extra colour schemes are given which can be used at the top if u dont like the original top color scheme i have integrated with the original logo Logo is 100% Vector!
I'm going to start my feedback posts the same way with the notes to everyone and individuals while obviously the indiviual section will be constantly changing, so here goes: To Everyone: Make use of visual representations of some or all of the following keywords: "Cloud Computing" "Cubes" "Databases" "Business Intelligence" "Reporting Services" "Security" One I think should be included is a cloud of some sort. Keep it professional though, nothing too cartoony unless you can make the whole thing cartoony while keeping it to a business level. Also if you could include databases, a report with a bar graph or pie graph, cubes, etc. To Individuals: @Kevin Shah: The last two are too simple but I do like the first one. It kind of captures a bar graph and buildings at the same time and there's a cloud. No more changes needed, thanks! @mitcharr: Again you did a great job and I love the look just one last suggestion, can you change the icon in front of database with an actual database or icon often used for databases? @j0opre: Wow, I love the design and how you incorporated everything!! One suggestion though, remove the lock as the shield, in my opinion, represents security by itself. Thanks! @DevilishBoy: Thanks for entering! I like the look, especially the bar graphs, but maybe replace the black half circle with something else? A visual representation of the keywords mentioned above? @yugo: I like the idea of having the initials in the logo a lot. My only suggestion is incorporate a cloud somehow Thanks to everyone entering, less than a week to go!
