I gotta coordinate my college's annual techfest this year. There were several fests coordinated by my seniors and super seniors but none of them included Gaming event in it. All there were technical events like IT quiz, c programming and other such things. This time i got permission to conduct a Lan gaming event in the fest but i am kinda alone in managing it as the director has refused to provide any kind of funds. The scope of the fest is gonna be in the whole IP university consisting of over 60,000 students and most of them are highly interested in gaming. So expect a great level of activity here. I can manage everything else, but the problem is, how do i get sponsors for my event. I know that companies like intel, amd and other tech related companies will get real benefits from this if i explain them effectively. But how do i contact them??
Any other idea to make this event successful?
This is the first time that i am managing something at such a large scale so i am a bit confused..

I would start by drafting a letter asking the companies to be a sponsor. Make sure you include how they will benefit by sponsoring your event (i.e exposure). Then target companies that you think would benefit from exposure to 60,000 students. Are they going to be on a t-shirt? Poster? flyers? Are there any local tech companies? If there is a local hook, Companies will have a better reason to sponsor. Once you have this list you could drop off the letter in person, and follow up with a phone call or in person again.
