some of my keyword ranked in first position of 3 or 4 in the first page when I did the search, but I didn't see many traffic from google to my site, any idea why?

The most obvious reason would be that not many people are searching for your keywords.
You can be no.1 for 'spotted tigers', but as only 16 people a month search for it, you'll never get more traffic from it than that.

Use Google Keywords Tool to find out how many people searching for these keywords.

Good idea. I'm in the same boat as you. I rank good for some keywords but it brings no traffic. Basically if no one is searching that term then it does not really make a big deal what your rank is.

First you have to find out which are your keywords and how many visits they have.

I'd have to agree. Use the keyword tool and figure out the traffic keywords.

depends on the frequency of keyword searching, common sense.

That depends on the popularity of the keywords.

    Hi there,
Actually first answer is right if your keyword is less competitive, you can get the first position in search engine put if it is less popular, means if it is rarely used by the people, it can not create the traffic.

First find the correct keyword, which is related to your site and research whether that keyword has got some quiet enough searches and optimize that keyword.
