Thanks mattr2110 for the advice, I will be taking it into consideration after I check the sites that the forum member referred. Thanks and do you have any sites in mind?
I actually prefer laptops because of portability. I can take my laptop into the living room when I want to watch tv and during commercials I can work on the laptop or I can work in the bedroom when I want some more privacy.
Laptops are for people who move around + work all over the place... Oh and lazy people who like to check their emails while in bed. (Alternative is to buy a wireless keyboard and mouse)
I do seo and build sites no games here and usualy i stay in bead and work on my laptop very confortably What can i say i'm lazy I think i will never buy a desktop again .
if you are a gamer or working on graphic design i recommend desktop... laptop for this kind of activities is very expensive but worth the price and i recommend ALIENWARE...
I prefer laptop because it gives me mobility. I can access and update my websites from anywhere. P/S: Proud owner of IBM Thinkpad (now Lenovo) : (
Though I have got a Sony Vaio but I haven't ever felt really comfortable using lappies as compared to desktops. The only good thing about the lappy is the mobility otherwise all +'s to desktops
I would never buy a laptop unless I would really need its portability. A desktop with the same power is just so much cheaper. For the same reason I use AMD processors in my PC's, they just give you way more bang for the buck than Intels...
If you just need the bare min, then get a laptop. I have both a laptop and a desktop. The laptop is really useful for when I want to do some stuff while in the kitchen, the study, the bedroom... take it to my friend's place, use it in the local coffee shop... you never know when you need the portability. If you're playing games, cutting videos, a desktop with as much grunt as possible is obviously the way to go.
Yet a 'bare min' laptop will cost you about 2 or 3 times more then the same spec'd Desktop, plus with the desktop you have the option to upgrade it later.
I had the same issue last year, working from home I decided to buy a desktop, well guess who is buying a laptop next week, yes, you got it, me! I have been tied to my desk for the last year and with the amount of work required to operate successful websites and write you pretty much get tired of siting in the same place sometimes for 16 hours. I look longing at those people at cafes, airports, the beach and more thinking if only I had known (Hindsight is 20/20). I love my desktop and I look forward to the variety (desktop and laptop) but if I could do it all over again I would have gotten the laptop. Also I think having two different options will help with my mild carpal tunnel, right now I am relying on ergonomics, hourly breaks and magnetic bracelets to keep me functioning. Good luck.
