No-Follow links and High PR

If I build hundreds of no-follow links to my website and only few very high do-follow PR backlinks then will my PR get lowered bcz of high number of no-follow backlinks to my website?
Also does no-follow backlinks helps to achieve high SERP?

No-follow links won't help (or hurt) your rankings at Google in any way. They don't pass page rank. You don't get credit for the relevancy of the link... and you don't get credit for the link text.

Some search engines are said to count nofollow links, so they may help your rankings there... just not Google. Nofollow links on relevant sites, however, can bring your sites traffic which could lead to additional followed links.

Agree with Canonical. No follow links can provide traffic, but not SEO benefit. They won't help with your PR, and therefore don't help with your SERPs.

However, they are also not going to hurt you. you won't have a 'lowered' pr just becuase you add a bunch of new 'no follow' links. They just won't help your PR go up any, which therefore will not help your SERPs.

I believe Yahoo! counts nofollow links as backlinks, but since there is no such thing as Yahoo! PageRank there isn't a reason to concern yourself there

Well No follow links do benefits you in the that you will get more visitor but building such link will get much more time:). if you comment one post at do follow and 10 post at no follow still do follow blog page comment gets better rank!.

If you are asking only about google well NO FOLLOW site will not make any difference to you blog!.

    Thanks

Canonical, PR and SERP are totally different things.
With nofollow you don't get PR juice but you still get the benefit of the link in terms of anchor text and a link itself.
Besides that some nofollow backlinks will make your backlink building campaign more natural.

Not in terms of SEO benefit. It might be a link, but it's not a link that will help you with SERP position or anything. It's ONLY benefit is that people might click on it.

    This I agree with.

There's a good argument that although nofollow links are said by Google not to affect PR or SERP,

    • It's still good to have a mix of nofollow and follow links because it looks more natural and won't cause the search engines to suspect you of artificially improving your SERP.
    • Some people have ran tests and determined that Google and other SE's DO value nofollow links and there seems to be a growing school of thought that nofollow tags will be completely ignored (ie equal value as links without the tags) in years to come.

I beg to differ... Every Googler I've every spoken to in person and on Google's help forums say otherwise. I've had discussions with Matt Cutts several times the last few years at Pubcon. Nofollow always comes up... and on numerous occasions he has said that nofollow links do absolutely nothing to help your rankings at Google. And all testing I have done indicates that he is correct.

Cutts has even indicated that a nofollow link from a well trusted, authoritative site like wikipedia won't even help your site rank in any way. You might want to check out this video by Matt on nofollow. At about 50-60 seconds in he starts to explain how nofollow links mean absolutely nothing from a ranking perspective and are only good for driving traffic.

PR does VERY little to helping your page rank... It's inbound links and specifically the associated link text for those inbound links that REALLY help a page rank. The whole reason there is a rel="nofollow" element for the anchor (<a>) element is to combat blog comment spam... It was Google's solution to prevent blog comment spammers from manipulating the SERP (not to prevent them manipulating PR... but instead to prevent them from manipulating rankings in their SERPs).

It would be absolutely obsurd for Google to NOT count a nofollow link in their PR calculations for your URL (which is almost meaningless anyway in the overall scheme of rankings) but to STILL give you credit for the link text which carries FAR more weight than than almost any other ranking factor in their algorithm... They could care less what shows up for your PR in their toolbar. They don't want sites manipulating the SERP with unnatural links resulting from blog comment spamming.

So even if everyone at Google were NOT saying they ignore everything about a nofollowed link in their algorithm, common sense should tell you that they do ignore the links totally. Otherwise, they would STILL be allowing blog comment spammers to manipulate their SERPs by dropping thousands of nofollow links per day.

Did I say or imply that you should NOT build backlinks w/ nofollow? No. In fact I said/implied they are not totally worthless because they can still bring traffic and "some" less sophisticated search engines may count them... I still stand by the fact that Google does not.

The nofollow backlinks will not help to improve PR or high SERP it just can provide traffic. Be specific in the niche while it is an nofollow backlink.

I use firefox and there you can download an add-on searchstatus. With this you can check or links are nofollow or dofollow.

Furthermore I think that nofollow links do absolutely nothing for your PR. they won't help you and they won't hurt you.

I do not care about nofollow or dofollow, and I often comment on nofollow blogs. But, my posts are ranked pretty well on Google.
