Removing uncategorized category

Is there a way to remove the default uncategorized category? Or at least a way to keep it from showing up on any pages?

 

there must be at least one category, you can not delete it. but you can change it's name. enter Categories in admin panel, click the Uncategorized link and edit the name.

 

i think it cannot be deleted, but you can rename it to what ever you want
saves time to create a new category.

There must be at least one catagory after that you can delete Uncatagorized catagory. For this regard you have to set a default catagory in "writing" option. I have done this for my blog http://adsenseurdu.com

 

since it is the default category, it cannot be deleted. instead you can easily rename it from the admin panel.

i dont know how you did. but anyway good. just to help others who may face similar problem, could you let us know how you did it?

 

Just go to your admin panel--->Dashboard---->Posts---->Categories---->uncategorized---->Delete

 

i have same problem in my blog Urdu Stories. There is no option to delete it so you must rename it.
