Inherit Google PR

I just registered a domain name, and a new IP. It seems that another domain (which is registered till 2011) is pointed to my IP, and it has been for a while. So my domain now is PR 5 on tool bar, wow, I feel lucky at least now, till that domain owner is moved.

It seems that the other domain owner is not maintaining that site any more. It is a gov org site. So not sure why that organization is out of business in some way.

That domain is kind of related to my domain, so what will happen if I put new content. Will that be high ranked? Or if I put more pages in it?

Google will eventually correct itself on the next update. It will realise its a different site with different domain name.

Is that site point to our IP, meaning a 301, which can keep some PR?

Yeah!! if that domain is redirecting to your IP the PR will be preserved as long as the redirection remains.

Yes, as long as it remains. Once its changed then so will the pr. Good for you if they are not maintaining it anymore :)

I am thinking buying that domain name, which is registered since 2003. But I don't know if they sell as they are gov org
