Multiple h1 tags - OK or not?

In my blog I have a setting that puts each post title into h1 tags. I usually leave the 1st paragraph and insert "read more" after it. Because of that my front page is full of h1 tags and only a few paragraphs of text is between them. Is that OK or not?

All subpages naturally have only one post each and therefore only one h1 tag each.

Go with 1 H1 tag and use h2 and h3 tags for the additions

Yes, that would be the way I'd do it too, but can't - all titles can onl be in one type of h tags. It's either all h1 or all h2.

Each post excerpt on your home page should have the post title rendered as <h2>s, NOT <h1>s. You should really only have 1 <h1> per page as the previous posters have said.

I was thinking something along those lines to.

Surely each new blog post should be a title tag not a h1 tag anyway!?!?

Strange option to have imho. What plugin or feature does that Dominik?
