I have been backlinking, forum posting, and using article directories like a mad man for a week or so now... but I only get 20 page impressions a day at the most... is this normal? when will it increase?

SEO is a term where you need to work hard but can't think for the faster results. Just wait and watch... you will see the results in upcoming time.

You just got to keep working like a mad man and things will begin to increase. It take a lot of work so stick with it and you'll see results.

I have attained page 1 Google SERPS in a day or 2 and up to a week or two sometimes a few weeks and on the odd occasion within half hour of putting something online.

It differs from site to site from page to page and from person to person.

I got every London Borough and the acronym SEO on to page 1 of Google within two weeks (not sure how far short of 2 weeks as forget to check it for a while, so it may have been much less than 2 weeks) with a brand new domain.

It can depend a lot how competitive the search term is.

Best thing to do is make sure you are providing the best most relevant and useful content to match a search query and you won't go far wrong.

it takes time to get to a position where you can get some decent and stable traffic. what you are doing is fine and out of al the methods you are trying, article submission will give you the most amount of traffic. however, it all depends on where and which article directories you submit to. some article directories send more traffic than others and some are completely useless. forum postin gis fine but that will hardly give you any traffic. i say use other link building methods as well and just keep working. good things come to those who work hard and have patience

It takes time months to get good rankings and it depends on competition of targeted keyphrases

Make a google alert for your site and you will find out, not only as soon as google 'finds' your site, but also as soon as anyone writes about it.

Google Alerts don't tell you when someone finds your site Sir, just when someone searches that term.

I may be wrong but I am fairly sure (last time I checked - I could be wrong) Google Alerts only cover Google.com searches from within the US to.

It all depends how competitive the keywords you are targeting. Has your website been indexed already? There are various factors that contribute to the rankings, including domain age, quality links, etc.
