Ads that have nothing to do with your Site Niche seldom get clicks

I was asking people about why my clicks suddenly dropped, even though I think its because I just aint lucky and people dont wanna click my ads, someone told me to eliminate any ad that has nothing do with my sports blog niche.

He said sometimes you see some ads for bottomline secrets and usually 9 out of 10 times the people who search for sports are not gonna look at that ad especially if it has nothing to do with the article.

I have gotten many of these irrelevant ads like ink jet stuff, and chapman university stuff like that that has nothing to do with my sports niche.

So does eliminating those type of ads help boost the click possibility from visitors?

and if so how do I ad them tot he competitive ad filter if I cannot click the ad to see the link location?

    thanks

Forget about competitive filter, you can do it forever.
If adsense serve non-relevant ads most likely there is a on page seo problem. Is your blog optimized right? Without a link to your blog it's hard to give any suggestions.
This can help google to serve relevant ads https://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=23168

Also post your own comments on your blog using keywords you are targeting for. This technique helps as well.

Ya I noticed that I have blocked chapman university ads but they still pop up once and a while even the donation for countries ads still show.

I noticed when I had some ads that were relevant to baseball when the play offs happen I got high clicks.

And wow thanks I never heard about Section Targeting that looks like it will really help big time.

Thanks so much man Ill give that shot. Hopefully it works because last time I was getting 20-40 thousand visits a day with only 20 to 30 clicks because most of my picture ads were about ink jets and some other irrelevant ads to my content.

There is another issue that wasn't mentioned. Google also serves "behavior based ads" that have nothing to do with the content. You can go to "Adsense Setup" then the "Ad Review Center" and under "Filtered Categories" click "change". Their are 11 categories listed, but you can only filter out 8.

P.S anyp, This doesn't work for those annoting Flash ads.

    Thanks

So far I tried the section targeting and it didnt work :(

right now I checked I have 12,349 visit impressions, and only 76 clicks for 6 dollars.

This sucks ass my clicks died down badly last week I would probably get 300-500 clicks for 12,000

It just doesnt add up I have my ads in article and around the article

Try to add your own comments to the post, add keywords you target to the comment, so the whole page will have more keywords and it helps.

main question, ARE THERE ANY ADVERTISERS for the keyword??? Use spyfu.com to find out. If there is no advertisers then the problem is your niche.

I've seen so many times that some people choose wrong niche and struggle to get clicks just because there is no ads to serve for google.

    Good luck.

I don't think that sports is an adsense friendly niche, i rarely see sports related advertisers on adwords, and even if there are few, they must be selling sports t-shirts, Jerseys or may be match tickets. That is the reason why adsense shows random ads on sports related sites or blogs.
