I'm trying to become a freelance web developer and I've been working on this site over the past couple of days. What do you think? http://www.imben.co.uk/
Which links? The ones on the portfolio page? I thought they would be better to open in new windows as they are sort of different to the rest of the site.
The only thing that kinda bothered me is loading time regarding the big background. But visually its good.
Simple, professional, clean. 10/10. However, I have a single question. do you have rights to use the picture thats in the background?
Hi Ben, Nice looking site. I think however that it needs to be less about you and more about what you can do for your customers. Prospects need to know "what's in it for me." Don't do yourself down, tell what you do, not what you hope to do. You have done very well with the sit design it all comes down to tweek, tweek and tweek again. All the best.
The white background the text is on, is maybe just a little bit too transparent, as the background is somewhat distracting when you try and read the text.
When I first loaded the site I looked at it for a few seconds before closing and coming back to here, at that point I was thinking "it feels a bit like a domain parking page I can imagine a shtload of ads all over here", then read some comments and see there was a background, so go back and let it load, it looks a lot better with that but if you could try and make the bg load faster that would be great but I know that's not always possible. Without the background, to me at least, it does feel like a domain parking page. I'm just trying to be honest (I would expect the same from people reviewing my site(s) but you can tell some people are just trying to get their post count up). S
