Backlinks through twitter?

Is it possible to get backlinks through twitter or is that only for gaining more traffic?

 

Twitter does not work well for me, it may be the niche? But I thought the backlinks were no follow??

 

Because link from Twitter only no-follow, that's mean benefits from there is just TRAFFIC and TRAFFIC, not count as a backlink at all and no benefits for page rank or SERPs

The links are good because other sites will scrape your status updates and post them on sites that don't always have the nofollow tag

 

Twitter is only useful for traffic only . It is not effective for PR and search engine ranking.

I thought twitter links are do follow.Thanks to this forum that I am now clarified.So if there is no traffic increase through twitter then we need not waste our time over there promoting our site?

 

Nope they are all nofollow. It will only help you by gaining traffci to your site. I don't use twitter to advertise but it can help sometimes.

 

In tech crunch website it was announced few days after the twitter tweeted its links.

 

You can benefit from twitter if you have a lot of followers who are interested in what you offer. It will bring your site targeted traffic.

 

Wrong. I have seen my stuff on Twitter get indexed by G...so you can get organic traffic as well as referral traffic

some forum and blog pull content from twitter automatically and in that case.. yes.. there will be dofollow link..

 

twitter is nofollow so you cant get backlink from any search engine, but you can broadcast your tweets, check this out Broadcast your Tweets

 

I didn't know that. So it is always useful to put your link on twitter (besides from getting more traffic)

i have a pr3 twitter account. so it should mean that we could gain backlinks to it. if not then twitter account shouldn't have PRs but then i could be wrong.
