Solar Eclipse is a wonderful astronomical experience which takes place when the Moon comes between the Earth and the Sun. The visibility of the Sun from the Earth gets obstructed and what we see is a Solar Eclipse.

Today's Eclipse started at Central African Republic and cover Camaroon, Congo and Uganda, Nairobi, Kenya and then enter the Indian Ocean.

Now It is visible at Trivandrum. Hope it will reach Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu after 10 minutes. It will be staying for 10.4mins in Rameswaram. Now It becomes dark in Tamilnadu, India. I have switched on the light to see everything clearly in my room.

This is an annular eclipse, so the Sun appears as a ring completely obstructed by moon. I'll upload the picture within few hrs of this eclipse here...

Other Important facts about this eclipse-

    1. This is the longest eclipse of this millennium! (11 minutes and 7.7 seconds)

    2. The next longest eclipse will occur on 23rd December 3043. (No one of us is going to see it. :p)

    3. Use specially prescribed goggles for viewing the celestial experience of the millennium.

Scientists say so. And by the way, newspaper quote the exact year as well. Furthermore, if 2012 incident does not occur, our future generations would see the incident again.

P.S. It was an exciting experience yesterday.

In that case, yes there is a possibility. I would invent a time machine for you and in return you will provide me enough space to be with you. We will enjoy the eclipse together. :p

I saw the solar eclipse from a observatory .. and ISRo has launched several rockets to study what has happened at this particular time. does any one think that this is very necessary ???

is there any scientific reason(very compelling) behind it ??
