I did the church thing when I was younger but, alas, my IQ is significantly higher than the norm and things just made no sense so I questioned them. This led to some fallout in the church I attended, although the pastor's daughter made it all worth it. You see Nehemiah, I have a great life, I have a great job, I have an awesome wife and I have really good kids, I am very, very happy. I don't need your god. Now before you start with the pre-programmed bible quote let me just say this; I do not necessarily not believe in a higher power, but I stongly do not believe in religion.

 

Okay. . .but when have you ever read from any of my posts here, or elsewhere, that I have promoted "religion"??? How much of your "great life", "great job", "awesome wife", "really good kids", and "very, very happy" is going to Physically die with. . .and then go on into Eternity with you? U-Haul trailers don't follow you in the Transformation from Death into Eternity.

It ain't about "religion", Roman; but it is all about JESUS CHRIST. HE, plus nothing else, equals EVERYTHING. . .that is to come and remain ETERNALLY. And you will experience ETERNITY. . .United (Always Alive/Living) or Separated (Always Dead/Dying).

Don't believe me, read Scripture and see if what I'm telling you is so or not. . .provided you're now scared to do so.

And this proves my point about Atheists not being able to accept that they operate on a belief system. Without proof for your position, whether you like it or not, you operate on an assumption or a belief. If you cannot provide proof, then sorry, you've fallen into the definition of a belief.
You can listen to deluded fools all you like telling you that atheists assertions are actual fact, but it won't change the reality of it one iota. What else would you call an assertion without proof? Were you cruel you might call it a lie. Were you kind you might call it a belief.
Seeing as atheism has no proof for it's assertions it's at best a belief, at worst a lie. I don't mean that in a bad way. Religion faces the exact same dilemma when looked at from a scientific viewpoint. The only difference between the two is religious people will acknowledge they operate on a believe, yet atheist have somehow deluded themselves into thinking they operate on facts - just don't ask them for those facts. there are none!

 

Facts and Proof?. I really think that religionist don't have a clue as to what an Atheist is. They are always desperate to include a non-believer in the believing system by accusing them of having to believe on something. (what?)

In some ways they do. They know that today is the Present and Yesterday is the Past and they look forward to the Future, they are a Realist.

 

~ The atheist are asking for answers the Scriptures say are only available through Jesus who happens to have taken them with him to the grave......the scribes failure to provide the reasons and answer for mans dismissal makes them only human and their choice to hide their own shortcomings by using Jesus is a poor substitute for finding the answers and having people live blindly. The atheist have the universe (Garden) itself as the answer when sought, just how to extend themselves into the solution and find reason whatever it may be is the problem they seem uncaring to resolve and will be their legacy.

Roman, you said that you have a happy life which is good. If you can honestly mow through life with good kids, a great wife, good job, and a happy life then all the power to you. The people who are Christian have a void that needed to be filled. If you don't then there's no reason why Nehemiah or anyone should really bug you about religion. Not many can pull this off. Most people end their life praying to God(weird for an Atheist wouldn't you think?).

You're right, I have no voids to fill, as for praying to god when facing death, I have been paragliding for almost 20 years. During that time I had things go terribly wrong several times and I found myself plummeting to Earth at fatal speeds. Now since I'm still here, obviously I got myself out of it and it was through actively working to fix my situation and not by praying to god and hoping for the best that I survived.

However, the fear of death is powerful and I can see how someone might start praying when facing death but in my experiences I never needed to do so.

I think the OP is onto something. I've often asked others to use science in and the scientific method to disprove the existence of a higher power. No one ever seems to take me up on that. The reality is, nothing in Science is ever proven. A claim is made, then its up to others to invalidate that claim, not the other way around.

I'd suggest looking up Scientific Theory and the Scientific method and invoking true science in the pursuit of knowledge.

Anyone other than Julian actually care to engage in a debate on the subject, or are we going to listen to more insults? Thanks!

Prayer is taught in Christianity not to be used as an emergency to get help. Its not really about that. Its more like gaining more of a close understanding of God. Peace with God and the world, etc. God says you can't just sit there and pray, you have the power to control your life.

I think the reason why often pastors' daughters are so appealing to guys is because they are probably the biggest challange. Kind of like the "forbidden fruit" (maybe I shouldn't have said that. lol)

Even though there should be a button on my computer where I can transport to the persons room to wack them furiously with a large stick in the head people shouldn't bother the mods on some personal attack. Its pointless because there's too many people to ban if they did stop it.
