Friends, I have started a new article directory. However, I am concerned about the duplicate content that I am recieving in the articles submitted on my directory. People seem to have submitted the same articles at thousands of website earlier and they want to simply submit on to more sites. I want help to know: 1. What can be the consequences of having duplicate articles on the article directory? 2. How can we avoid the duplicate content submission issue? Thanks
Unless your own and another article directory will both be accepting all of the same articles (highly unlikely) then theres going to be at least some difference. I doubt theres consequences for you.
I have one site I accept articles on. 95+% of the articles I see submitted are already indexed elsewhere and are immediately rejected. My guidelines are clear in that content indexed elsewhere will not be accepted. If I see one article in 50 that is actually acceptable I am impressed. I will generally delay reviewing articles for a day or two just in case people are submitting to multiple article directories on the same day. That way it has a chance to be indexed other places prior to me looking at them. I am nearing the point where there will be a fee for submitting articles just to help weed through the spam. Though most article sites do not care if the articles are duplicate.
Swedal, I have already started to realize that its really difficult to find original articles. I think I will have to be quite strictly follow a quality policy and ensure that only original and good articles come into the directory.
Duplicate articles goes in supplemental results You cant avoid the issue unless you check copyscape for each article, manually or automatic, in which case you will approve about 1% of the articles
The consequence is that you will end up with a directory filled with duplicate junk which as a result will fail to generate income. So if you are not willing to put in the work, don't bother running a directory. Find some other easy-money, get-rich-quick scheme. /*tom*/
I believe thats the only way to go. I have allowed free article submission to my directory from the beginning only to find articles pre-submitted elsewhere. ALL were rejected! However, there were exceptions and a few of them have been published on the directory. As far as SEO goes, I have noticed that if you're giving something for free, people dont respect you. Therefore, charging a resonable fee should make sense.
