3 days ago I submitted my site to about 50 blog directories, 2 days ago I submitted it to about 100 pliggs, and yesterday I had added about 50 of my links to digg. Webmaster tools says it updated yesterday, but I don't see any of my links on the list, and my site's PR is still a 2. Very frustrating. In fact, I had my site added to dmoz twice about a month ago, and that's still not showing up either on the list of link backs. Is this normal? What should I expect usually. I'm quite new to link development.
Hey mate. Page Rank is updated like every few months, your links might not come up but will probably show when the next update for page rank comes and you might gain your PR then. Hope I gave you some comfort lol.
Thanks. I'm not going to give up. I guess you just have to keep adding links and hope for the best. I'm going mad, creating blogs and articles for my site. By the way, after you're done adding your url some place, does it matter if you submit the page to google's crawl? I've been doing it just in case google over looks the pages with my links on it.
Don't submit to Dmoz more than once - it is counterproductive and will definitely not help to speed things up (if you ever get listed at all, that is). Webmaster tools will not show you all of your links. Your PR will not change until the next update. To increase your PR you will need backlinks from other pages with good PR. I'm not sure if this will be achieved from submitting your site to blog directories and pligg sites, although it may help your rankings a little. All in all, you need to be a lot more patient because Pagerank only updates every few months and backlinks can take some time to appear, if at all.
How long before links show up? - Only Google knows. Some may take 2-3 months before you can see them on your webmaster central, some even longer. And, Google or any backlink checker will never show ALL your links.
It can take several weeks to for the search engine spiders to actually discover your links. Just because you get a link today, it doesn't mean that it will discovered/counted by the search engine spiders. It takes time. Just be patient. Regarding PageRank, that is only updated 3-5 time per year. It's not going to shift and change from day to day. Keep plugging away at it, and you will see good results over time.
