Will less keywords in my title tag make the only keywords left in my title tag more "powerful"?

Yes. Keyword density within the title is important when optimizing your title tag.

Google considers keyword density within individual HTML elements that are ranking factors like <title>, <h1>, etc. (and within link text for inbound links) similar to the way they look at keyword density of the page. Only the affect of density is greatly magnified when within individual elements like <title>. Keyword density within the content of the page is much less important.

They also consider position of the keyword/keyword phrase within the element (so keyword phrase closer to beginning of <title> is more important than keyword phrase nearer the end of the <title>) similar to the way text near the top of the page is considered more important than text near the bottom.

It's not only the keywords in the title tag

It also the way you use them in your page.

For instance your title tag cannot be about "Home Making", but your page itself talks about "Food, or Nutrition"
