    hi,

When looking up Alexa for one of my sites, I found a link from DMOZ....

I followed that link and I am listed under a "bookmark"...

what is teh difference between being listed as a "bookmark" and a regular listing????

    Tahnk u in advance

Bookmarks are editor's favorites as far as that goes. It could mean several things, but most likely an editor liked your site enough to tag it from his profile but either didn't like it enough to add it or does not have permission to put it where it belongs. Alternatively, the editor that bookmarked it could simply be "watching" your site to see if they want to add it to the main categories...

    Your weclome ;)

Bookmarks are not editors favourites, bookmarks are for editors to use as they please. It is often described as their playground!

So the site might be there for their personal use. I don't know what your site is about but if it were say about a holiday resort then the editor might want to keep it as a personal reference. It is possible that they could not add it themselves to the directory, because they could not edit in the category that your site would fit, so they may also have sent it to that category for it to wait for a review by an editor who can edit there.

It may also be in their bookmarks because they are starting a collection of links that we do not have so that they can either ask about a new category being built to house the links or if we do have a category already they could be gathering links so that they can apply to edit that category.

You're both right. I think Qryztufre was using the word favorites in the IE sense of it being a list of saved/bookmarked sites that is personal to the editor.

Just like the list of bookmarks I have in my browser includes links to bad dp users as well as sites I value, rss feeds etc back in the day my editor bookmarks included links to sites whose progress through dmoz I might have wanted to monitor, sites I valued, sites I was collecting, a secondary "affiliation" list and so on.

Editors bookmark pages don't usually carry PR so it's nothing to get too excited about :p

Do you also build categories in your favourites so that they can go live?
