The front page is huge, over 600kB in size.

You have a javascripts named Fertigo_Pro_400.font.js that's over a quarter meg in size. Can you get rid of it or at least compress it?

Put your url in here for a report:

Thank you but I am not sure how to change (or even access) javascript files - how do I do it on WP?
I tried choosing that the font used will be Ariel - does this help?

You do so via the file manager your host provides, not through wp. The link that I gave gives you links on how to compress your javascript.

Considering Ariel is a standard font that I would think everybody has, I would just define it in CSS and not use any plugin. Seems like a waste to me.

Thank you but I am not using a plugin, it is an option of the theme and I don't know how to change the theme

Best bet then would be to contact the theme designer and ask them how to remove the plugin from the theme.

I have now replaced the theme (again) and the upload time is still very slow although the theme is minimalistic.

I try to keep it to minimum images but still the site is very slow. Any other ideas?
