Google Accounts : GMAIL : Ask for Phone number for registration ?

Hi Friends,
I have some Google accounts(Analytics) and 3 Gmail Id's
Which I have been using for quite long time

Today I was registering GMAIL id and strange after registering , it ask me to add phone number for verification , which is really strange , Don't know why


Has anyone else experienced the same ?

Maybe because of multiple accounts?

 

Maybe this is good way to avoid spam

 

This is because you register multiple gmail accounts, google detect the ip address for prevent spams, anyway use proxy or ask your friend to help you.

Its a new feature they have included to avoid spam registration, and you can register 5 accounts per mobile phone number.

 

So it means that for one gmail id now being registered you can use the same phone 5 accounts? are those accounts same or with different users? I have not tried registering to gmail yet but I am planning to make another one for my mother

 

Exactly! you can use that number for 5 accounts, then after you need another number to register more accounts, if you want to.

 

I had more than 3gmail accounts registered over few yrs back an am still using them
I had to signup a new account few days back and google was asking phone verification for email registration, though I have provided my number, I am very weary of using this gmail account, I don't want some cops showing up on my doorstep saying u have viewed some adult content which is blocked as per laws, damn google, I think this started up on high in India recently bcoz of the Headley-Rana mickeymouse project over discussions over gmail

no other email provder is asking such verifications, and I can guarantee this verif. will surely affect the gmail new reg. business, especially those who r more fav. towards porn content especially in south asia and arab nations

I also tried with a VPN, an SSL proxy and an SSH tunnel with my dedicated server...

My impression is that google now requires phone verification for EVERY new account

That's just ridiculous in my opinion, they have your browsing history, your name, your calendar, your cell phone number, that's too much info for a single corporation and it's disturbing

 

I registered around 80 youtube accounts yesterday no phone number required*you have to make a google account with it*.
