Nice content, but feels a little cramped, you should look at using more of the screens real estate.

It looks nice, but there are too much gray bkgd space... def widen up the width of your content more.

So it's too narrow, thanks folks, is there anything else on there that stands out as 'sucking'

    ;)

Be as brutal and harsh as you can, I'm thick skinned enough to take it!

    Thank you!

    Yes.

We're a UK limited company, registered at companies house and we've secured a commercial agreement with one of the largest online music distribution networks, they're half owned by EMI and credited at the footer of the site.

It's taken a fair bit of investment for a very small company, both in securing the rights to sell the songs and the hardware at Rackspace in London. It is fully above board though I totally understand why you felt you had to ask.

    Thanks.

PS if anyone has music related sites and would like to link to me I'd appreciate it!

You must know me too well!

    http://officialmp3s.mobi/

However, most of the tracks are encoded at 320 kbps making them unsuited for mobile download unless you're on a wireless broadband connection, if that's the case you've really got a mini computer in your pocket that you can happen to make calls on!

Well that's the only thing I could really think of that might help with promoting the site. It seems to function well, and you've optimized it well. Have you looked into doing any Facebook apps, or youtube vids or anything?

    Hi,

Yes and no, I've thought of doing a facebook application for it but haven't had the right moment of genius for it yet, as for YouTube, no, I'd not given that any thought at all.

Really, in order to speed up the organic process I need to source some solid and viable partners with relevant sites, I need the links and anyone linking in with relevant traffic (music / download / lyric) will be paid fifty percent of my margin. In other words, once the labels are paid and the payment processor takes their cut I'll split what's left down the middle with whoever brings the sales in.

That then brings in the whole realm of affiliate marketing and finding suitable partners, that's almost as hard as getting visitors!

I've got aspirations with the site, I just need to work out how to fulfil them!

    Thanks for your feedback!

So do you have an affiliate program set up on the site, I didn't see one. That might be a way to guarantee you'll get motivated partners. Saying you'll split profits down the middle is all well and good, but without a verified tracking system in place, personally I would hesitate to get into that kind of deal with someone

I've built the back eng logging system, all sales can be broken down to the site they are referred from but there's no signup and no reporting system writen yet.

One step at a time! It is just me working on the coding for it so give me a few more weeks and we should be ready to roll.

I've considered using Affiliate Window but they wanted thousands to setup - too much of a hurdle for the site for where we are now but not for where I'm hoping we're going in the future.

As for verified tracking system, what you suggest other than an in-house solution that is open enough to show you your clicks, uniques, sales and payments due / made?

    Thanks

I have used idev affiliate, not sure the domain, but it costs $100 for the software, and you install it on your own site, you host it, and it does the rest. All the tracking features you need, all in one place. SEO.com uses it for their affiliate program, which is how I found out about it.
