Look into creating a landing page for all new people.. this is a great place to place a PR piece, or some upfront information..Then you can ask FB to make that a default to any visitor that is not already a friend.

Here's my recommendation. Facebook is a social networking tool. So USE it for that! So many people get a Facebook account and they expect money to pop up in their account for that and that alone... No. NO.

First, on the right side of the page there are usually suggested friends. I don't care WHO they are, add em. You want as MANY friends as you can if you're gonna do this right. I'd say you'll be in pretty good shape at about 1,000.

Then... once you've established yourself in the community of facebook by posting replies to people's posts, uploading pictures, videos and notes, maybe even playing some flash games.... at THAT point I would start a fan page or a group. Invite all of your friends of course, but also do a little PPC marketing on VERY relevant keywords. Most people will have a Facebook account and if your group or fan page makes them feel happy IN THE LEAST, they're going to join. Facebook is cool that way - people don't realize you're trying to sell them something. They figure it's "just another group" - on your end, you'll be sending daily messages to the members, you'll be adding affiliate links, you'll be promoting your website and your products and ultimately, you'll make a killing doing it that way.

A good Fan page or group will have at least 10K members or fans.

Thanks for your suggestion. Now I have more than 200 friends and use to update almost everyday but visitor from facebook to my blog is very less.

You can send messages to members, fan/groups. Update status with your link to get traffic.

I think you should make a fan page... or post on your friends wall about your site... OR try making an application for your site on facebook. :)

I'm all for using Facebook to promote. In my opinion it is best to create a fan page as it works better and can attract more people to join because it displays on their friends page suggestions. You do not need to have a great deal of friends but ask your friends to invite theirs.

Lots of people send wayyy too many updates and it can annoy users.

I have a few pages but only one that is for a website which I started yesterday. I also use social bookmarking on my website and provide a link to become a fan of the website on Facebook.

At the end of the day, if you can attract 1 visitor from a fan page on Facebook then it's a success because you haven't paid anything. In theory it can be free advertising so I would suggest it to anyone!

    Happy bookfacing!!

Visiting each friends' wall and posting there takes huge time. Is there any way like mass post?

There's an 'Invite' option on the page you make which allows you to easily select from your friends.

You can also invite by email (I'm sure you'll find an email list somewhere) and it allows you to mass email.

You can join a group and market to the members or use facebook applications such as the market place to place a free ad.

If you are promoting your own legitimate site, then you may promote it in facebook. No possibility of any ban. But you have to ascertain how much friends from your list of 1000 are active members of facebook.
