Hello first I am not sure if I can do anything about this or not but am not happy. I own a .com reviewing and selling clickbank products. Someone has purchased the .net (I know I should have got it but a newbie mistake) and they have copied everything onto their site. Same wordpress theme same contact - it looks exactly the same except they have changed the hop links. Is there anything I can do about this lazy cheating moron? I have his clickbank id and have sent an email to clickbank. I called my hosting company - Godaddy and they said there is nothing they can do. I have looked the .net owner up and have a name and hosting company. Are they allowed to do this? If so why have I put so much work into creating a site that I love when I could have just got a .net and cloned a .com! Sorry but I am still annoyed about this. Please if anyone has any suggestions please help. thanks Kaz my site is http://newgameguides.com the thief's site is http://newgameguides.net It even has my article ping backs on it.
Rather than everyone having to repeat the same information and advice again I suggest you read this thread. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1626263
Thanks for pointing me to that thread. I have been following along and wanted to contact the host company as suggested. It looks like hosted by Yahoo so am now trying to find a phone number. thanks
Don;t call as that doesn;t give you a paper trail. File a DMCA request with them. They do list a number of their contact page though: http://info.yahoo.com/copyright/us/details.html Don't expect a reply though: http://www.webmasterworld.com/content_copywriting/3625737.htm Personal experience on that one as well. A good read if you want to know what to follow though and how to do it: http://www.plagiarismtoday.com/stopping-internet-plagiarism/
This URL was in the thread that you were linked to. http://www.netbuilders.org/business/someone-copied-my-website-i-dont-know-what-do-about-12952.html
Thanks everyone for you help so far. Just emails a DMCA to Yahoo. Now I guess I will wait and see what happens.
What I would do is open cpanel or whatever your using and ip ban the guy. The people who visit the site can recognize that the pingbacks don't point the .net and usually when people want to go somewhere they type in .com first, so enjoy the backlinks from him.
A big thank you for all your help. Site has already been taken down by Yahoo! Once again I am so glad that I have found Digital Point and all the wonderful people here. Again thank you to everyone for helping me. Kaz
